This book was so fucking amazing! For my first A.A.Dark read, I was blown out of the water. I can’t tell you the adrenaline high I got from it. I was pumped throughout the whole story. So much was going on. Multiple characters each brought so much to the table. Manipulation was at an all time high and, it was brutal but our heroine had determination and strength. She was pretty badass throughout the story. My head spun from all the excitement.

24690 was one kickass heroine. Trapped in an underground society where she was used and abused, she conformed…yet she NEVER broke. Now that things in Whitlock have been shaken up, she’s not going down without a fight. She is willing to play the game to try and get her freedom. And play that game she does. No one is safe. The Masters underestimate her because she’s a woman and a slave and she showed me how freaking awesome she was.

The world that A.A. Dark brought to life in this book was like a freaking movie in my head. It is so rare for me to read a book and actually visualize it all playing out. With this story, it felt so real. All I needed was a bag of popcorn and my souvenir cup to prove I was there. I can’t give more details without giving out secrets to the key players and plot twists in this book. I swear, you’re going to love every word of it. By the time I reached that last page, my brain was on overload from the imagery, surprises and bassery of it all. 24690 is my #1 dark read for 2016!!! Waiting for the next part of this story is going to be nail biting torture for me. This one definitely makes it on my MUST READ list!

Buried deep below the everyday life of our society lives an underground world of nightmares—of violence and murder no one dares speak about. Contracts and laws weave the web of our culture together. Our Masters walk amongst us. They can be our friends, or the ones to make us disappear forever.

Where I once had found peace within my existence, it all ended with the death of my cruel, yet caring owner. My world shattered and I was taken back to the one place I had hoped to never see again—the cells of Whitlock—a subterranean fortress for slaves who await their new placement.

Now I have no rights. I have no say. My feelings and wellbeing are meaningless. Escape is impossible, but I have nothing left to lose.

To stand any chance of survival, I must give my life as collateral to the highest bidder: Soul for Sale.

Today’s Spotlight: Five Star #Review of CHAINED (Caged #2) by D.H. Sidebottom

Be sure to read Caged BEFORE you pick up Chained. This is a continuations of Anderson and Kloe’s story and picks up right where Caged left off. Without the first book, you won’t have a clue about what is going on. Trust me, you’ll want to get started on it ASAP.

It’s been a while since an author sucked me into their story, pushed me out off the cliff and them stomped on my heart. And D.H. Sidebottom did that to me with this book. When I read Caged, I was a bit confused with the characters. I didn’t fully understand them or what they offered each other, but it ALL came together in Chained. The connection became so clear, I felt like a doofus for not seeing it before. The suspense, thrills and darkness within the story and characters was captivating. I learned to love Anderson and Kloe, deeply. Their connection was something way beyond what I expected and I was absolutely thrown for a loop.

When Chained starts off, she’s fully aware that Anderson has been playing her, but he’s not the only one. People have been weaseling into her life and trying to drag her back into a past she thought was long gone. Anderson knows, but he’s had his own agenda all along. Poor Kloe can’t trust anyone, but she loves Anderson and she’s willing to do whatever he needs so that she can provide him the closure she wasn’t able to in the previous book. She made a promise to him and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep it. Even if it means giving herself to him…COMPLETELY. A sacrifice she never would have considered before. Love knows know bounds and kindred spirits is what they are. The share an understanding of such a twisted childhood that they were practically made for each other.

Oh, this was such a roller coaster for me. From page to page, I was trying to guess who was playing who? What was going to happen next? And will Anderson give up his plan for revenge? It’s a guessing game and ultimately, you’re thrown into a tailspin of emotion that will leave you empty for some time. It took me two day to recover from this hangover. That’s a rare thing for me. I usually bounce back like a yo-yo.

D.H. Sidebottom is the Queen of twisted manipulation and she’s proven she plans to hold on to that title every chance she gets. I can’t wait for her next masterpiece.

Caged (Caged #1)

The Conclusion to Caged. Caged MUST be read before this book.

I had once thought that when I found the light I had been searching for in that long, dark tunnel that it would finally give me the gift I had been holding on for.
I had scoured the joyless night sky for peace, a peace that only the brightness of the stars could grant.
And I had endeavoured to catch that single magic snowflake in the middle of a howling snowstorm.
I had been looking. Forever.

But little did I know that it WAS the sinister darkness in the tunnel that was the gift. It WAS the black reservoir of the deepest, darkest night that would be the very thing to give my chaotic soul peace. And it WAS the heaving rush of the bleakest blizzard that was filled with magic.

Anderson Cain WAS the darkness.
He WAS the black peace in my soul.
And within the raging pool of his wild green eyes WAS the magic.
The magic that saw me. The real me.
He made sure I saw me too. All of me. He’d told me he would make me accept who I really was.

I was Kloe Grant. And now – now I am the epitome of what he wanted me to be.

But when I finally let go, and I allowed that darkness to find me, neither of us was prepared for who I really was.

Death itself.

This book contains extreme violence, strong adult language and scenes of dark sex, including M/F/M.
