Review and Book Tour: MISDEEDS (A Death Dwellers MC Novella) by Kathryn Kelly

John “Johnnie” Donovan is determined to make his relationship work with Kendall Miller, the attorney he met during his cousin’s birthday party. Before he can move on with his future, however, he still has loose ends to tie up from the past in the person of a rival MC’s president who is also Kendall’s ex-boyfriend. As Johnnie tries to balance his club life and personal life, another tragedy forces him to make a choice between the two. Will Johnnie be able to live with the choices he makes?

Kendall Miller is trying to pick up the pieces of her life in the wake of her ex-boyfriend’s assault. She’s ready to move on with her life and the man of her dreams, the sexy VP of the Death Dwellers MC. She demands his complete attention and isn’t willing to share her man with all the baggage of the MC. She doesn’t want to be an afterthought to him nor does she want to live her life in the midst of the clubhouse, especially with the competition taking place between Kendall and the club president’s wife. Then, catastrophe strikes and Kendall’s life is once again altered. Can she and Johnnie have a future together or has their love been doomed from the beginning?

The Death Dwellers MC series has to be one of my new favorite MC reads.  I haven’t read Outlaw’s and Megan’s story yet but you can be certain I plan to start that next.  Kendall and Johnnie’s story was filled with suspense and drama that kept me engrossed in the story and I couldn’t rest until I read the last page.  I wouldn’t really consider this a novella, though.  The length and content of the story definitely falls under full length novel in my opinion.

Misdeeds is a continuation of Misunderstood which gives us the final pieces to Johnnie and Kendall’s story.  Pregnant and in danger from her ex-boyfriends MC (the Torpedoes MC), Kendall is on lock down at the MC compound for the Death Dwellers.  Johnnie still trying to come to terms with what he feels for Kendall and how she and his unborn child fits into his life, he has to juggle this as well as the rising tension within the MC.

I was on the fence about Kendall.  Her character was, at most times, weak and whiny.  Understanding all that she’d gone through it’s understandable how fragile she’d become.  I found myself comparing her to other characters and realized, Kendall’s reaction to everything made her REAL.  It’s not natural for everyone woman who goes through everything she did and still be as strong as they were.  Kendall was a broken woman.  Her reactions were normal. Once that dawned on me, I understood her so much more.  Her insecurities and jealousies are common in most women.

Johnnie was such a great guy.  Understanding what Kendall went through and doing what he could to help her. At times, confused and frustrated he reacted the way most men would even clueless at times as to how to tread with her.  But he never stopped trying.  This was such and admirable trait in him. As the story progressed, it became so much more that I was literally emotionally invested in each character.  Kathryn Kelly doesn’t just treat us to the main characters, but because she’s giving us a 3rd person POV we get to see so much more.  We get the behind the scenes treat to Mortician and Bailey,  Zoann and Val as well as a couple other secondary characters in the story.  This gave so much more life to the story.

I have to say this was one of the most involved MC reads I’ve had in a long while.  Definitely a 5 star read for me.

Tour: Wicked Innocence by Missy Johnson

Synopsis: Don’t let my petite and innocent appearance fool you, because I’m one person you don’t want to cross. I’m Micah, the youngest member of Resurrection…If only they knew how young. My fake ID says I’m twenty-one.

And I will be…in four years.

What can I say? I blossomed early. Home sucked, so I left, determined to do something with my life.

Landing the gig as lead vocalist in the band was a dream come true. I’ve worked hard to make something of myself and nothing is going to ruin that for me.

Then He showed up.

He’s hot as hell and so into me. But he’s also twenty-five.

I don’t want to lie to him, but if the truth comes out I’ll lose everything, including him.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his ipod. “Put on some music if you like.”

I took it, letting my fingers glide over his. His eyes darted toward me briefly and my heart jumped.

I quickly looked down, busying myself with his music collection. I ran through artists until I came

across Severed. Smiling, I clicked play.

“You have your own music in here,” I said with a giggle.

He shrugged. “If I don’t appreciate it, then why should I expect anyone else to?”

“I guess. I just think it’s cute. Like an actor going to see themselves at the cinema.”

“You don’t think Nic Cage or Brad Pitt go to the movies?” he asked in mock horror.

“I don’t know. I met Brad Pitt once in Starbucks.”

He chuckled. “I can just imagine how that went down.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.

“Well, you were kind of freaked out when you realized who I was. Meeting someone actually

famous? You’d lose the plot,” he laughed.

“Well, in my defense, I didn’t have posters of Brad Pitt all over my walls—” I shut my mouth, but it

was too late. No, no, no…

“You had posters of me on your walls?” he repeated, amused. “Micah, that is adorable.”

“Shut up,” I mumbled, coving my face with my hands. He chuckled loudly next to me, clearly not

ready to let this go. “No! No laughing. Just shut up and drive.”

Wicked Innocence by Missy Johnson was a treat to read.  The characters were relate able and I became invested in their and their story.  Saxon Waite was an absolute dreamboat.  He was a sexy rocker with such a good heart. I have definitely added him to my BBF list.  Micah was a strong heroine. She showed that age was not always and indication of maturity.

I did struggle with the fact that she actually was much younger that everyone thought.  Especially when her relationship with Saxon went to a level of intense intimacy but only when the story reminded us of her actual age but she carried herself like any other adult and I would again forget the fact that she was 8 years younger than Saxon.  The back story for each character wasn’t outrageous as not to be believable which kept me involved in the story and invested in Micah and Saxon.

Missy Johnson give us a very original and well written story.  Once I started I couldn’t stop until I read the last page.  I was hooked from the beginning and enjoyed every bit after.

4.5 stars for this Wicked read

So, before I began reading The Bondage Club I had an idea in my head of what to expect.  I can honestly say that this story went in a completely different direction and I was so VERY pleasantly surprised.  Getting to know these characters was such a treat. 🙂
Alexandrea Weis tells us a great story in the 3rd person and completely from Hunter Donovan’s POV.  It was a breath of fresh hair to read a novel completely from the male’s perspective.  Hunter wasn’t the typical Alpha male we come to expect. He was written in a way that he seemed so real.  On those pages, he was a regular guy. Struggling with what he wanted and what was expected of him.
In walks Cary.  She walks in with the looks of the typical girl next door. Her tiny frame and innocent appearance throws Hunter off guard.  For some reason she strikes a spark in him and he can’t explain why.  She’s the complete opposite of what he’s normally attracted to but for some reason he just can’t seem to resist her sweet and lively personality.
Cary is the person that will help him get his publishing company into the ever expanding market of erotica romance and onto the e-readers of women everywhere.  She’s been in the industry for some time and they agree to work together to start the new erotica line at Donovan Books.  As they work together to bring on board a well known erotica writer and capitalize on her existing fan base that will follow, Hunter realizes he is way out of his depth on the subject and Cary surprises him at every turn while helping him learn the ropes [pun intended].
For once, it was the man learning and the female teaching or expanding the man’s sexual experience/knowledge… Like I said, a breath of fresh air.  I truly enjoyed this story definitely recommend it.  The Bondage Club was extremely well written and paced so that we have time to get to know Hunter and Cary and become more and more invested in them.
I give this one a 5 BRIGHT SHINY STARS.

Book Review: LIBERTY BELLE by Maxxx Cummings

Liberty BelleLiberty Belle by MaXXX Cummings
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 stars- Acopy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

As with some ARCs received, I didn’t read the synopsis as I try to go in to the story with a blank slate.

When I began reading Liberty Belle, I wasn’t sure where the story was headed because the beginning was filled with definitions and explanations of the military terms being used and it was slightly off putting but I was grateful for some of them.

As the story progressed and I learned more about Max, I got more invested in the characters. Max’s time with Belle was at times comical but in no way took away from the steaminess of their encounters.

I have to say that I loved the euphemisms Maxxx used in the story. It was a breath of fresh air from the constant and standard uses of the words c0ck, penis & pu$$y. The euphemisms were very entertaining and kept the read interesting throughout the story.

Great work Maxxx Cummings! Interested to see how the story continues in the next book.

Liberty Belle can be purchased through Smashwords.

That First Kiss by J.C. Valentine
His finger stroked the inside of her thigh, seeking higher ground as his thoughts rolled forward. Piper’s eyes trained on his face, hanging on his every word. “I didn’t intend for things to get as heated as they did, but as soon as I touched you, I needed more. I couldn’t help myself. You possessed me.”
The glazed look in her eye told him that she was remembering that night as vividly as he was. Placing both hands on the cushions on either side of her body, he hemmed her in, bringing their faces so close that when he spoke, his lips grazed hers. “The way you danced that night, pushing that sweet little ass of yours against me. It’s haunted me, Piper,” he whispered.  “You need to understand, I tried to resist you, just like I have been trying to resist you, but you drive me crazy. When I’m with you, it takes everything in me to stay away. All I think about, all I dream about is burying myself inside you.”
Piper licked her lips and Tate zeroed in on the tiny movement. “I want to suck those plump lips into my mouth,” he murmured. Shifting, he brought his knee up so it rested on the couch alongside hers and hovered over her. Her face was flushed and her chest rose and fell heavily. She wasn’t unaffected.
“You need to leave,” she said weakly.
Tate chose that moment to drop his head into the crook of her neck, nuzzling her. She smelled faintly of roses, and his cock jumped at her soft, feminine scent. “Do you want me to leave?” he asked softly.
He could feel her softening beneath him, her breath coming out in shudders as he skimmed his lips lightly up her neck to her ear, where he licked the pulse beating rapidly beneath her sensitive skin. “Yes.”
The single word left her on a stilted breath, only solidifying his need to get inside her. “I don’t think you do,” he murmured. With sure hands, Tate grabbed the backs of her thighs and yanked her toward him, seating her firmly beneath him on her back with her legs spread wide.

Red Hot Obsessions is such a great ensemble of stand-alones and series reads.  Each bringing it’s own flavor to the mix give readers a pleasurable experience of sexy, steamy and oh so hot alphas.  There’s a hunk in here for everyone’s taste.

We’re treated with Calder Cunningham, billionaire in His Wicked Games by Ember Casey who decides to play the strong willed Lily Frazier and use her ambition to save her family’s art center in a game of wills for a bit of fun and entertainment.  Their battle of wills leads to a fierce connection that will get you checking to be sure batteries have been charged/replaced.

We get to read the story of Hunter Bane and Autumn Blakewood in Fierce by Clarissa Wild.  Autumn arrives at college and on her first day she sees the resident bad-boy, Hunter.  She’s been the nerdy and awkward girl her whole life and isn’t sure what to make of her desire for Hunter.  As they become close friends, she realizes that he’s actually interested in her and sees her a a desirable young woman.  As they deal with college life, they grow closer and connect on a level neither of them expected.

Intrigue, suspense and thrills are what you get from Slow Burn by VJ Chambers. Griffin Fawkes and Leigh Thorn treat us to an adventure as Griffin tries to fulfill a promise to Leigh’s father and protect her, but Leigh is enjoying college party life to the fullest. She’s living it up on cocaine and men as her high.  She meets Griffin and is not at all what he expected. Through it all, they still build a strong bond and fall in love.

These are just a couple examples of what’s in store with this anthology collection.  10 great books with lots of hot sexy men and beautiful strong women is a pure reading indulgence.  I recommend you make yourself a cup of tea, coffee or hot cocoa.  Grab a blanket and snuggle on the couch.  This is one collection you will not want to put down.  I for one had to force myself to set down my phone/iPad and sleep, eat or even work.  I was hooked from the start.

This naughty mom gives Red Hot Obsessions 4.5 stars

  1. Olivia Rigal sings every Wednesday night in the karaoke club
  2. Olivia Rigal went to dog grooming school
  3. Lacey Silks had a passion for acting when she was a teen. As an extra she met Marlon Brando, Matthew Broderick, Ricky Lake, Brendan Fraser, Jerry O’Connell and Shirly MacLain
  4. Lacey Silks is afraid of flying. If you ever sit beside her on a plane, don’t mind the Hail Mary’s. And good luck getting to the bathroom. She will not unbuckle her seat belt through the entire flight
  5. Before she was an author, Ember casey worked as a pastry chef. She’s never met a cake (or puff pastry, or tart, or chocolate truffle) she didn’t love
  6. Ember Casey started writing Romance because her critique group kept telling her that her attempts at Young Adult were too, uh, “adult”
  7. J.C. Valentine is a reality TV junkie. The Kardashians hold her prisoner often and without mercy
  8. J.C. Valentine loves thunderstorms. They’re perfect for writing
  9. Clarissa Wild always drinks tea when writing, and she needs at least 2 cups of earl grey tea a day
  10. Like the main character in her book Fierce, Clarissa Wild is actually quite a book-nerd, and not just that … she loves playing videogames as well
  11. Sky Corgan actually participates in the BDSM lifestyle as a dominant
  12. Sky Corgan has to have complete silence while writing, so no coffee shop writing
  13. V.J. Chambers still watches The Vampire Diaries, and she’s still on Team Damon
  14. V.J. Chambers has a cat called Isis, and she does not like to relinquish the keyboard for her to actually write. She would rather lie on it
  15. Blair Babylon has lived in 5 US states: Arizona, Connecticut, Iowa, New Jersey and New York
  16. Blair Babylon was a child actor and model who did over 30 TV commercials and a short-lived PBS series
  17. During her tween years, Molly McLain began writing while listening to Wednesday night dedications and requests on radio. Since no one ever dedicated a romantic song to her, she made up her own love stories instead. To this day, all it takes to get the creative juices flowing is a little REO Speedwagon
  18. Molly McLain is a closet WWE fan. She may or may not fangirl over Randy Orton to the point her children refer to him as her boyfriend. They’re also kind enough to pause the TV when he’s on so she can drool
  19. Although Daizie Draper’s pretty kinky, she’s more of a switch than a straight-up sub. The BDSM in Sorority Pledge veers into many untested areas for her because Addison, the sub in the story, learns she’s masochistic, which I Daizie is not
  20. One of Daizie’s quirky things is that she hates crumbs, like stepping on them with her bare feet. It just irks her like nothing else

I am about to tease him, when we are interrupted by a young thirty
something guy who, looks like a Ken doll.
“Frank, nice to see you again,” he drawls with a southern accent.
Shaking my dad’s hand, my dad smiles and makes polite conversation all the
while this guy is eyeballing me from head to toe,
“And you must be?” he asks extending his hand my way. Taking his
hand it feels smooth, too smooth like he uses lotion all the time.
“Bailey and you are?” I ask dropping his too perfect hand.
He smiles at me with nothing but pure lust in his eyes. “Andres,”
he replies, wetting his lips with his tongue still eye-fucking me. “Would you
like a drink, Bailey?” My name drips off his lips like honey and I won’t lie,
it gets my stomach coiling but I raise my already full glass and smile.
My dad excuses himself again and I want to reach out and slap him
for leaving me with Ken but here I am, alone with a real life doll. His sandy
blond hair parted to the side, his skin is tanned like he has spent the last
few weeks on an exotic beach and his smile a little too wide for his face, but
his perfectly straight white teeth gleam at me. He stands staring at my chest
without any hint of embarrassment but an amused lust filled expression playing
across his features,
 “I should probably get
going,” I announce, feeling altogether uncomfortable and slightly turned on in
his presence.
“Can I give you a ride?”
My breath hitches in my throat as he smirks at his own double
meaning. “No thank you. I drove.”
Taking my elbow he leads me behind a big fake bush just at the end
of the bar. Leaning down, I can smell his cologne, a musky heady scent.
“Why don’t you and I go somewhere more private?” His voice laced
with desire rolls over me like a warm summer breeze heating my very core. My
eyes flutter as my lips part slightly. I feel drunk, intoxicated on lust or the
promise of it. Ken doll’s hand leaves my elbow and rests on the small of my
back with his fingers spreading down to the top of my ass as he steps closer to
I look into his hazel eyes and feel trapped he is too close and
his scent is making me dizzy, or maybe that is the blood pounding in my ears as
my heart jackhammers in my chest. Ken leans closer again so his nose skims my
“Darling,” he says and I jump back like I have been shocked.
Breathing hard I glare at him. “Excuse me, I have to go.” Turning
on my heel I walk over to my dad. “Dad, I’m leaving. Walk me out?” I hold onto
my dad like he is my lifeline and avoid Ken as he tries to catch up with us. I
hand the valet my ticket and pray that he hurries.
“Okay sweetheart, I will see you in a week. I promise.” My dad
hugs me and I don’t want to let go of him for fear of being alone if Ken comes
out here. I hear my car before I see it and release my dad kissing his cheek.
“Night dad, love you.” Opening my purse, I give the valet ten
dollars and jump inside driving out of the hotel to the small road before I
readjust my seat.
My heart is pounding; I feel like I just stole a million dollars
and got away with it. Ken was way too smooth and his perfect smooth hands, huh;
I huff at myself but then imagine what it would feel like to have smooth hands
roam my body. Would they make me feel the way Knox’s calloused fingers would?

Coming July/August 2014
This is not a HEA.

This book is a companion Novella to the Blackrock series.

Scarred Hearts & Taking Chances.

It deals with the last 9 months of Summer Anderson’s life told from her POV.

Do we ever know what it truly is? Is it in the hugs from a parent?

In the laughter shared with a best friend? Or is it the words that slip from the lips of the boy you want to love you back?

I don’t know, maybe it’s a combination of all three, or maybe just maybe – it’s in the eyes of the person staring back at you through the mirror. The person whom you need to love, in order love another.

For me staring into the mirror only brings pain, regret, and shame. What I’ve done, the one thing I thought would give me love, brought nothing but shame. This person staring back at me…I don’t know who she is, I don’t know who I am anymore.

Love. Do we ever know what it is?

Bailey, Knox and Max.  This is a trio with a strong connection.
In Scarred Hearts we meet these three as Bailey makes the move from her hometown to live with her father for the summer.  In Blackrock she sees a tall, dark and handsome (“TDH”) biker while she walked the streets of her new home.  I have to say it took me a while to connect with Bailey.  Eventually the story began to flow in a rhythm that made it easier to follow.  Though the author gives us POVs from the three main characters, it seems monotonous as the POVs that weren’t Bailey’s were just a quick summary of what already occurred.  Once I was able to get my catch on to the story, I did find myself wanting to keep reading to learn what happens next.  Bailey goes through a heard time dealing with grief.  Her relationship with Knox seems rocky but as college kids, that’s what’s to be expected.  I do have to say that Knox and Max were great male characters.  They were not only sexy but the sweetest guys. Sexy twins with hearts of gold.
In Taking Chances, we see how the last year in their lives causes growth in each of them.  They appear more adult as they work through college and deal with the curve balls life throws their way.  It  make them stronger once they’ve overcome the drama and trauma.  I found myself more invested in book 2 of this series.  The characters were more related.  The storytelling had improved and the story line was really good.  There were times I had to force myself to put it down.  Knox and Max become more swoon worthy and Knox was such a romantic guy.  I loved how the relationship developed and grew between Max and Bailey.  They have a strong bond that helps solidify the trio.
Occasionally, with both books, I found that there were some parts of each that had too much detail (scenes not strongly related to the story line) and other times where more details would have been better and helped elaborate a scene.  In my opinion some a scenes felt rushed.  Overall this was a really good series with really good characters.
I give each book 3.75 stars.
On a side note…though my review rating has no bearing on grammar, punctuation or spelling I did find it difficult to overlook. This caused my difficulty to connect with the story. Excessive and improper use of commas made it heard to get through a paragraph and follow along with the story.  In many cases a comma was used when it shouldn’t have been and not used when it should have as well as multiple run on sentences.  This is an enjoyable series, as a reviewer and avid reader I do recommend to the author that the books be reviewed for additional editing.  This will enhance the readers experience and allow them better connection with the story and characters.

Why write books?
Well it has always been a dream of mine to write a book, I have written many stories but never finished them or hid them away. Last November with some encouragement from my little sister I wrote my first novel Scarred Hearts. I enjoyed writing that book so much it took me three weeks to finish it! 🙂

 TOO MUCH by Lea Griffith

Loveswept Contemporary Erotic Romance

June 10, 2014

ISBN: 978-0-553-39069-8

In Lea Griffith’s Loveswept debut, a novel that’s perfect for erotic romance readers, two lovers who have shared exquisite pain and unforgettable bliss find solace back in each other’s arms.

Jeremiah Copeland and Daly Edwards have a history. Even though he grew up a criminal struggling to care for two younger siblings, and she’s the pampered daughter of a power-hungry senator, they formed a bond that nothing could break. Only a lack of trust ripped them apart.

Seven years later, Daly has reason to believe that Jeremiah’s brother is in trouble. She reaches out to Jeremiah the only way she knows how: at his BDSM club, The Underground. But one look ignites a heat she thought had cooled forever. As Jeremiah takes control of her body once again, Daly quickly loses control of her carefully rebuilt world. Too much has never been enough between them, and as danger swirls in the shadows, Jeremiah forces Daly to recognize what has never changed: She still loves him. His command is that she return her heart—and he will make her obey.

Naughty Mom Review

From the moment I began reading Too Much I was hooked.  The opening scene intrigued me.  Lea Griffith starts out by describing the intense connection between the main characters… Daly Edwards and Jeremiah Copeland.  It’s been quite some time since I’ve had the pleasure of reading a BDSM themed story and I was entertained, turned on and emotional while reading Too Much.  Daly and Jeremiah are such strong characters and their interaction with each other as well as the love that’s described between them was so strong.

“Rules are naught between us.  You have my everything because you will give me yours.”

As the story progressed, we get treated with a little mystery and drama but what I loved most about this story is that most of this story is just Daly and Jeremiah.   As they rekindle their relationship and remember what they had we get to see them fall into their roles of Dominant and submissive.  The scenes between these two was so H.O.T. and sexy and found myself wishing for alone time of my own.  Their time in Jeremiah’s BDSM club was super steamy.

“You’ve given yourself to me.  You trust that I know what you need.  All you give to me I will hold close and care for in all ways.  You are mine to do with whatever I want.”

Lea Griffith brings us a really good story with Super Sexy characters and delivers a really great message applicable to any type of relationship.  We all need trust.  Trust in ourselves and trust in those we love.

“You. Are. Mine.”

Too Much by Lea Griffith was a truly enjoyable read.  The story was extremely well written and provided in the 3rd person from both points of views so we are given the perspective from Daly and Jeremiah.

I give it 4.5 Naughty Stars

5 Star Book Review: THE VIXEN AND THE VET by Katy Regnery

The Vixen & the VetThe Vixen & the Vet by Katy Regnery

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

★✩★I can only give it 5 stars but my heart gives it 10. A definite MUST read in my book. ★✩★

A copy of the book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

When I was provided a copy of The Vixen and The Vet to review and I didn’t know what to expect. I try to go in with a blank slate so I did not read the synopsis and went in completely blind.

I was intrigued from the beginning and as I read this wonderful story, I truly fell in love with this couple. Savannah and Asher were great characters and felt completely real to me. I felt what they felt.

The love that grew between the characters was so palpable, I honestly felt jealous. This is a story of two strangers who meet one summer day both coming from something that caused them to return to their home town to “lick their wounds”. Asher, a severely wounded and disfigured veteran, came home nearly a decade ago never leaving his home; Savannah, a report who fell for her story’s source and had her career ruined as a result. As they get to know each other, they become friends which ultimately brought them closer than either of them expected. This friendship grows into a love so deep that I could feel it through the pages I read. Their moments of intimacy was so passionate and so pure that they were the most intense I’ve read in a very long time. In my opinion, no amount of erotica I’ve read can compare to the specials scenes between Savannah and Asher and that’s my main genre favorite.

Writing this review…it’s so difficult to describe what I felt. After nearly two hours of finishing this book, I’m still so raw from the emotion this story pulled from me. I’ve read a few “tear jerkers” lately but this one honestly made me cry. It was a difficult reaction to maintain as I was at work at the time, and I’m not talking about a tear or two. I’m talking about runny nose, sniffles, etc. Mind you, I’m not a person easily moved and crying is not something I do often, if at all. This amazing story brought out so much feeling and emotion from me, I’m just in awe.

Katy Regnery did an outstanding job of bringing these two characters to life. The story was VERY well written and flowed so naturally that I found myself reading at a pace that didn’t feel rushed. I could actually hear the conversations in my head as well as hear their southern “drawl” as they spoke.

This is one story I will never forget. Savannah and Asher will stick with me always.

Naughty Mom Series Review and Blog Tour: SHAKEN SERIES by Julie Bailes

Mature Audience Only

**Book 1 in the Shaken Series**

If someone asked me to describe myself using only one word, I’d tell them damaged. I’m completely broken, irreparable. On the outside, I appear beautiful and bright, but on the inside, my soul is black and empty. I haven’t always been this fragile, scared, and heartbroken woman. Nope. I had the life my peers envied; happily married parents, captain of the volleyball team, and a dangerously sexy and loving boyfriend. Then, faster than I could blink, my life went to hell in a gasoline-soaked hand basket.

Cancer struck. The sting of death pierced my heart, and my so-called ‘loving’ boyfriend left me. Wyatt shattered my heart into a million pieces when he left, but little did he know, it wasn’t just me he walked away from. Four years later, Blake changes everything. Unlike Wyatt, Blake treasures my heart. Blake claims I’m beautifully broken, and that he can fix me, but I know differently.

How can you put something together without all its pieces? You can’t. When Wyatt left, he took most of my heart away with him. You see, hearts are like broken glass; you can put it back together again, but it will never be the same. While I’m undeserving of Blake’s love, he deserves every bit of mine. My biggest fear is that I’ll crush his heart, just as Wyatt did mine.

I have to say that this was one of the most emotional reads I’ve come across…so far.  The story begins with Allie coming to terms with a great loss in her life and I felt her pain.  As I began to read this story, I was already tearing up from the beginning.  As Allie tries to move on from the pain and push forward, she begins to see one of her best friends in a new light.  The ever attentive and extremely sweet and sensitive gentleman that is Blake and is officially my ultimate dream man.  Who needs a bad boy, biker, billionaire when you have the perfect gentleman who loves with ALL his heart and soul?  I wouldn’t.
Occasionally, I felt that Allie’s character was a bit whiny for my tastes. I understood she was still reeling from her loss but she expected everyone to continue to suffer as she did.  So occasionally I tended not to like her so much.  Moving on and accepting her recent loss was not something she could easily do and she felt it shouldn’t be easy for anyone else either.

Blake helped with her recovery and was ever so patient with her.  I fell in love with him from the very beginning.  With the other novels I’ve read, I was expecting him to turn out to be a a secret bad boy, a cheater or just a sadistic ass but he wasn’t and I just loved him even more.  He was perfect in every way.

This was such a good story and wonderful start to the series.

Shattered & Shaken gets 4.5 Naughty Stars

**READ after Shattered and Shaken (book 1), and prior to Shattered & Mended (book 2)** Mature audience only

Walking away from her was the hardest decision I ever made. Leaving her without an explanation broke us both. Our hearts have been left shattered. I could make excuses. I could lay the blame on others, but still I made the decision. I had to. It was the only way to protect the both of them. After all of Allie’s loss, my thought was only on her and her happiness. On her love and need for her big brother. I was replaceable, Kyle wasn’t. I wouldn’t allow him to crush her heart with his death. I knew I had follow him. I would throw myself on top of bombs, in front of bullets, whatever it took to get him home to her, alive. There are two sides to every story, and you’ve only heard one. Don’t be so quick to judge; I hate myself for what I’ve done. But all that I did, it was all for Allie.

Pulchritudinous [pukl-kri-tood-n-uh-s]: adj. physically beautiful, comely; n. formal, literary or physical beauty
What can you say about a man that would use such an unknown/rare word to describe how beautiful you are when he sees your naked body for the first time?  I’ll admit, I had to look this word up.  I didn’t expect to find it’s definition to be so utterly romantic.  And ladies, that’s exactly what we get when we read All for Allie.

In this story we get to read Wyatt’s POV.  In this companion piece several parts of the story are filled and explained as to Wyatt’s whereabouts and whys.  We also see how intense his friendship with Kyly (Allie’s brother) was and deeply his love for Allie runs and that he’ll fight to win back her love.

Wyatt is another one of the good guys.  His one and only love is Allie and he won’t let her go.  As I fell in love with Blake in Shattered & Shaken, I began to see Wyatt in a new light.  As I read this story, I began to feel torn between Wyatt and Blake.  They both loved Allie completely and unconditionally and treated her as if she was the only woman in the world.  I can say that Allie is one lucky girl to have both of these amazing men after her heart.

As did the first book, I had to fight back tears.  This was another emotional read and though it was a novella, it added so much to this series.

All for Allie gets 5 Naughty Stars for making me feel so much in this novella.

**READ Shattered & Shaken and All for Allie prior to Shattered & Mended, as this is the last in the series** Mature Audience My mind was made up and my decision had been made, but fate felt the need to rear her ugly head and demand control. Fate is guaranteed, not to be reckoned with, and she won’t be defeated. You see, she’s the author to our stories that have already been written; there’s no editing them. Try as you might, but all you’ll do is piss her off. When you fuck with fate’s masterpiece, tragedy strikes, death occurs, and hearts get shattered. I’ve never been one to follow the rules. So instead, I stood with arms wide open and I challenged her. I knew the possibilities of her kicking my ass were high, but I refused to back down. I invited all the heat she packed, and quickly learned my lesson… You don’t fuck with her.

Ok, so I have to say that Julie Bailes has made me tear up and/or cry with each book in this series.  That’s a first for me.  I’m not an easy cryer and it takes a lot to make me literally feel the sadness in a story I read.  This series was EXTREMELY well written and each book only got better than the previous.

After reading All for Allie, I couldn’t decide who I wanted Allie to be with.  Either man would be the ultimate catch.  I do have to say that as the book came to a conclusion…I still felt strongly for Blake and I will forever be #teamblake.  Though Wyatt loved Allie with all his heart and soul, in my eyes, Blake showed that he loved her  more.  I won’t giveaway how, but I think he proved he was the better pick.  Of course, being this is my review, that would just be my opinion.

Shattered & Mended was filled with much more drama than the previous books.  Allie is faced with learning what type of person her best friend, Sophie, truly is.  She deals with more heartbreak and difficult decisions that anyone would just crumple to the ground if faced with the same experiences.  She truly became a strong woman compared to the whiny girl I came to know in Shattered & Shaken.  She became an independent woman after dealing with her life over the course of a year or so.

I commend Julie for bringing to life an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING series and sharing it with her readers.  I’m in awe of what I read and will always use these stories as a comparison for what I read in the future.  She set the bar quite high and if I could officially give more than 5 stars…I’d have to say that all three books in this series would get 8.5 Naughty Stars, hands down!

As it stands, Shattered & Mended has earned 5 great big golden stars for an emotional heart warming and heart wrenching read.  Heart wrenching because I still feel like I’m recovering from a book hangover after 2 weeks of reading it.
