My name is Genevieve Clare, professional mourner, destined to spend my days donning a black suit and throwing myself on top of caskets for money. Sometimes I mixed it up and threw myself on top of a willing warm body instead. Finding the right warm body though, that was a different story.

I approached Bryce Oskin, with caution, and when I reached his side, he demanded, “Who the fuck are you?”

Charm and disarm. Charm and disarm.

“I’m Genevieve Clare, Mr. Oskin,” I said with a grin. “I believe you hired me to come to your funeral? Mind if I join you?” I brought my own bag of goodies and opened a white baker’s box from Brewster’s.

“You some kind of spooky chick?” he asked, his eyes squinting as he studied me.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d think he was… sweet on me already. “Kinda, yeah. If by spooky you mean I get paid to go to funerals, give people a nudge, and check for a heartbeat. Oh, and I live at Eden Hills. Then yeah, I’m spooky.” I grabbed a plastic fork and took a bite of amazing cake. It was always amazing, but today it seemed more amazing than usual.

“There,” I nodded toward the folder I’d set down on a little table to his side. “I just need you to sign on the dotted line. And the bag there is from Ruby. But I’m taking over the goody-bag duties, so tell me what you like and I’ll get it for you.” I licked my lips and did it seductively because I knew this was a man who appreciated a woman. Also known as a dirty old man. “Want a bite?”

“You gonna tell that Nazi Nurse Ratchet on me?” He jerked his head toward Cheryl.

“Are you gonna drop dead from half a slice of cake?” I countered.

“Then I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship, Mr. Oskin. I visit once a week, unless I have a funeral, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday. I always bring cake for my clients. If there’s something you don’t like, just tell me. But I usually bring a selection.”

“You do this every week?” he asked, disbelief in his voice.

“What do you mean?”

“You eat like that every week? When you see other clients?” His eyes slid up and down the length of my body.

“I have a high metabolism.” I smiled. It really was a miracle I wasn’t as big as a house. But my sweet tooth was limited to sharing with clients. I had to give myself some sort of boundaries.

He grabbed the plastic fork I’d handed him and stabbed the slice of Meyer lemon cake with vanilla bean cream cheese frosting. His eyes closed, and when they opened, he said, “God bless you.” After a few more bites, he asked, “So, you’re gonna open up my box and poke me before they burn me, right?”

“Yes, sir, I’ll make sure you’re good and dead.”

“Spooky chick.” His tone was gruff, but his lip tipped up in the corner.

I saw it with pride. Disarmament, accomplished.

Bryce Oskin had ordered the Shake N Bake. I had permission from most of the mortuaries and crematories to open the casket and check the body. I mean, you could just tell when someone was dead. By the time I had my turn with the deceased, they were most likely already embalmed. But some of them chose not to be, or if they were, they hired me to come to their place of death and make damn sure there was no chance in hell they were coming back to life.

A while back, there was a highly publicized case in Southern California. A woman had been pronounced dead and taken to the hospital morgue. But when they opened the fridge for her to be transported to the funeral home, they saw obvious signs of a struggle. She’d been put in there alive.

I’d never been afraid of death, and, after my family died and the man I loved almost had, I embraced death in my own strange way. I made it my life’s work, I guess. While it took a lot to creep me out, that story gave me the heebie-jeebies something fierce. It was all over the news. Every staff member from the hospital to the morgue was investigated then sued or fired or both. And, of course, old people sitting in the common room of a rest home from the wee a.m. hours to beddy-bye time, saw that story six times in one day, minimum. I ended up receiving so many requests to make sure they weren’t breathing, I added the Shake N Bake to my website.

genevieve clare

After reading the synopsis, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but this was by far the most original story I have ever read.  I was overwhelmed by emotions at some points during the book that I can’t quite express.

Genevieve Clare suffers a great loss and for fear of feeling loss again, she pushes away a great love and spends her time helping those in mourning.  She starts a business provides a service to those planning their final moments.  She is their shoulder to cry on, the one to lean on as you grieve and even provides “specialty” services that turn out to be extremely comical.  Her outlook is to help these family grieve and make it an much easier process to get through.  Though the theme can be quite somber, her personality was VERY entertaining. She and her best friend, Rocky, had wonderful personalities and provided much spirit to the story.

After years of of thriving business, her long lost love returns and is ready to fight for her.  Because of the loss they felt all those years ago, they proceed to give it another go but have the constant worry for “the other shoe to drop”.  I have to say, J.B. Hartnett portrayed that particular feeling with precision.  There were points in the story where I held my breath not sure what to expect.  I literally felt their fears as well as the love in this story.  There were so many sweet moments and so many laugh out loud moments.  My emotions were everywhere and I loved it.

I laughed and cried several times while reading this one.  This story far exceeded my expectations. BRAVO, JB.  BRAVO.  If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

Book Description:

Seduced by Stratton is the fourth of six books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome English brothers who are all on the look-out for love.

(Except for Barrett, Fitz and Alex, because they’re taken. And Weston, who is still riding the ugly-love roller coaster with one of the Atwell sisters….)

Stratton English, the hottest, youngest, most devastatingly handsome CFO in Philadelphia, has a problem: women make him nervous. Really nervous. Catastrophically nervous. Socially awkward to an extreme, he’s apt to blurt out the first thing that comes to mind, and it’s rarely something a woman wants to hear. Quietly in love with his neighbor, Amy, he has no idea how to make his move, but he is committed to figuring out a way to seduce her.

Valeria Campanile, who Stratton knows through one of his four brothers, is a PhD candidate who moonlights as a dance instructor on the side. Ironically, even though Val studies Courtship Rituals, she can’t seem to find herself courted. Pursued by boys from the “old neighborhood” who promise to overlook the fact that she’s so smart, she longs to meet someone who romances her mind as well as her heart.

When Stratton helps Valeria with a financial problem, she is anxious to return the favor. But will Stratton, who needs Val’s expertise to win Amy, find himself seducing Val instead?

TEB - Strat and Val

Stratton had finished most of his work for the day and instead of starting a new project at four-thirty, he took out his Kindle and spent a little time reviewing the ten rules for seduction in his latest book:
Make a Connection
Get Close to Her
A Little Quarrelling Can Be Good
Say No Once in a While
Build the Sexual Tension
Be Direct
Channel Your Inner Romantic
Have an Intimate Conversation
Ask Her Out
Make Your Move
Stratton sighed heavily, taking out a sheet of paper and writing them down. In college, at Columbia University in Manhattan, he’d found this an excellent technique for storing knowledge. But as he wrote the words, he reviewed the actions, and his heart felt progressively heavier and more defeated.
He’d already bombed out on rules one and two last night by hitting Amy in the hip with a smelly garbage bag. What about the rest…?
A Little Quarrelling Can Be Good. Really? That made no sense to Stratton. Was the advice that he should pick a fight with her? Why? How could fighting with someone lead to anything good? Sheer nonsense.
Say No Once in a While. Why would he say no to the woman he loved? What if she called feeling sad, needing him, and he said no to her? It would hurt her feelings. Maybe she’d even turn to someone else. That sounded like terrible advice.
Build the Sexual Tension. He couldn’t count the times he’d thought about putting his arm around Amy as she sat beside him on the couch eating ice cream, but since she was always in such a fragile state over Étienne, it seemed underhanded. They didn’t get together when she was feeling flirty and receptive. They got together when she was red-nosed and weepy. It simply wasn’t the optimal time to build sexual tension—if Stratton had the first idea of how to do so in the first place.
Be Direct. No problem. He grinned. Finally one that he could handle.
But then he stopped grinning, because while his modus operandi was being direct, around Amy, he wasn’t. Last night when she told him she suspected that Étienne was cheating on her, he tried to be direct, but she’d looked so hurt, he’d changed tactics immediately and lied. Being direct was a lot harder than it seemed.
Channel Your Inner Romantic. This one actually had quite a lot of appeal to Stratton. He’d had a lot of time to figure out the ways he’d romance Amy once she was free of Étienne. He moved on to the next rule.
Have an Intimate Conversation.
What the—Intimate? Like about deep and important things? Or with dirty words? His mind short-circuited. He didn’t know how to “talk dirty” to a woman. Did that mean to say the sorts of things they said in porn movies? Like, maybe he should rent some porn movies and memorize some dirty sentences? He wished the author had defined “intimate” to mean “deep thoughts” because he felt very annoyed and uncertain about the advice.
He wrote down the words Ask Her Out and Make Your Move, but he was feeling so deflated, he stared at the list like a fat alpaca would stare at Everest. If this is what it took, than seducing Amy away from Étienne would be impossible. Unless…
Unless he had a coach. Like Alex, but not Alex because Stratton couldn’t stand the teasing. Plus Alex was too far away and wouldn’t take it seriously. Hmm. Barrett? No. Barrett wasn’t especially smooth himself, and while Fitz seemed pretty smooth, he was about to get married. He couldn’t be Stratton’s wingman. That left Weston, who was studying furiously for the bar exam, which he’d be taking the week after Fitz’s wedding. As far as brothers went, Stratton was shit out of luck.
Not to mention, he wasn’t sure that—aside from Alex—his brothers were all that adept at seduction. He wondered if their success actually had more to do with luck and fate than skill. He suspected that it did. Heck, they’d all ended up with women who’d been important to them in their childhoods or adolescence. Stratton was breaking new ground altogether. What he needed was a professional. A master of seduction. Someone well-versed on courting rituals with heaps of knowledge. Étienne was a formidable rival and since Amy hadn’t shown any concrete interest in Stratton on a romantic level, it was going to take a full-scale attack to get her to see him in a new light and leave her piece-of-shit boyfriend.
He looked back at the book, skimming the chapter after “Make Your Move” entitled “Seeking Help,” and his eyes latched onto the sentence: “Practice with a female friend.” Huh. Not a coach to guide him, but a friend on whom to test and perfect his moves, and maybe get some feedback about his technique. He nodded at his Kindle, appreciating the simple logic of the advice, but then he grimaced. While it was a good idea that had merit, Stratton didn’t have any female friends aside from Emily, Daisy, and Jessica, and he couldn’t imagine Barrett, Fitz, or Alex taking kindly to him practicing his seduction techniques on their women. He could call his cousin Kate, but she lived in New York, and anyway, she was his cousin. He sat back in his chair, tenting his fingers under his chin in thought and frustration when his phone buzzed.

My Review

“Senza di te la mia vita non ha senso.”  My life makes no sense without you.

I fell utterly in love with Stratton.  As I read the stores of Barrett, Fitz and Alex, I already had a feeling he was going to be my favorite.  He was mysterious, quiet and kind.  He was the shy intellectual of the English brothers and getting to know him was such a pleasure.  This gorgeous and intelligent man not only had no clue how beautiful he was, but was so socially awkward, he didn’t know how to speak to members of the opposite set without offending him.

Valeria, is Emily’s roommate and we got to know her in Breaking Up with Barrett.  She’s the best friend with the big personality and straight forward attitude fell in insta-lust when she first set eyes on Stratton so many months ago.  They each felt a connection which was gets sparked back to life when Stratton has to meet Val to help save her aunt’s dance studio financial problems.  Val would love to pursue the attraction she knows is mutual…unfortunately, Stratton is reserving his heart for someone else.

I thought Barrett, Fitz and Alex were romantic.  They don’t hold a candle to Stratton.  Because of his social awkwardness, he doesn’t know how to know any other way than to be straight forward and honest.  There are no games with him.  It is what is it is and Val understood him from the moment she met him.  She truly got who he was.  And Val being the curvy Italian in pursuit of her PhD, longed for someone to see her for her…smarts and all.  They were the sweetest and most romantic couple so far in this series.

“Every word you said was like magic to my ears.  Like you spoke my language.  Like you understood me, and I understood you.  I couldn’t stay away Val.  I won’t ever be able to stay away.”

About the Author:

Katy Regnery, Amazon bestselling author, has always loved telling a good story and credits her mother with making funny, heartwarming tales come alive throughout her childhood. A lifelong devotee of all romance writing, from Edwardian to present-day, it was just a matter of time before Katy tried her hand at writing a love story of her own.

As it turned out, one love story turned into a series of six Heart of Montana romances, following the love lives of the Yellowstone-based Lindstrom siblings. When Katy’s fans asked her to turn up the heat, she wrote the New Adult/Adult Contemporary hybrid romance, Playing for Love at Deep Haven, which offered steamier romance to her readers. Katy is also proud to offer The Vixen and the Vet, a standalone romance that benefitted Operation Mend, an organization that helps heal the returning wounded of our armed services. The English Brothers is Katy’s second series and first indie series.

Katy lives in the relative wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, where her writing room looks out at the woods, and her husband, two young children, and two dogs create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories of all are the messy and unexpected ones.

First Meet
“Attorney Kendall, could you stay and do an arraignment, please?” the judge asked off the record.
Her jaw dropped, and the color drained from her face. “Uh, I’m not a criminal attorney, your honor,” she stammered.
“It’s pretty simple. Mr. North’s attorney got delayed. Don’t make me appoint you,” he teased.
“Well, um, just for the limited purpose of this arraignment?” she asked with a hopeful lilt to her voice.
“That’s fine.”
The judge waved me over next to her. Her big eyes widened in shock as I lumbered over. I was mildly insulted. Had she really not noticed me the entire time I’d been sitting there?
“I can pay you,” I whispered down to her.
She looked startled. “It’s okay. What are we dealing with?”
I liked the way she said “we.”
She gave me a blank stare.
“Marijuana. Got caught with a couple blunts.” Acting on a bad tip from one of the club’s many enemies, the cops had been hoping to pin a whole hell of a lot more on me. This was why, instead of ignoring the weed like most cops did these days, I was standing here in shackles and the orange jumpsuit.
“Oh geez.” She rolled her eyes. At me or the charge, I wasn’t sure.
“Do you have a record?”
“About a mile long.”
That stopped her. She stared up at me, searching my face for the truth. Apparently deciding no one would joke about that, she nodded her head.
“Can you post bail? Do you work? Have a family?”
“Yes, yes, and yes.”
She didn’t ask what kind of work. Or what kind of family for that matter.
“Your honor, I’ve had a chance to confer with my client.”
“Very well. Let’s call it.”
His clerk stood and read out, “The People of the State of New York versus Rochlan North.” Look at that—the old gal even pronounced my first name right.
My girl looked up at me again. My manners were shit. I’d never bothered to introduce myself, I guess.
The judge slammed his gavel down. First time I’d heard him do it all morning. The sharp thwack broke the staring contest my pretty lawyer and I were engaged in.
“Do you wish to hear the reading of the charges, counselor?”
She hesitated for a minute, and the judge covered the microphone with his hand. “Usually the attorney waives the reading, Miss Kendall.”
“I know, your honor. Thank you. Yes, I’ll waive the reading. May I have a copy of the charges for my file, though?”
“Yes, of course. Do you wish to be heard on bail?”
“Yes, your honor. My client assures me he can pay a reasonable sum. He’s a hard-working family man, so it would be in society’s best interest to allow him to continue to work and provide for his family while he waits to address these false charges.”
I’m proud to say I kept a straight face during all of that. She impressed me with her quick thinking, though. Criminal attorney or not, she was clever. I had a fondness for clever. Clever kept you alive.
Cute and smart. I should get  arrested more often.
“Very well. Bail is set in the amount of five hundred dollars cash. If your client is able to post it now, he can be processed downstairs instead of going back to county.”
She looked up at me and arched an eyebrow. I nodded and motioned my crew forward.
“That’s acceptable. Thank you, your honor.”
“Off the record,” the judge said to the court reporter. He looked back up at my attorney. “See, that wasn’t so hard, Miss Kendall.” The judge’s face lit up in a wolfish smile I didn’t take kindly
to. Already in my head, I’d laid claim to this woman whose first name I didn’t even know.
The sheriff came over and gripped my elbow.
“Can’t you remove the restraints, now?” she asked the sheriff with wide, pleading eyes.
To say her request stunned me would be an understatement. No one had ever given a crap about my discomfort.
The sheriff did not look surprised. He answered her gently. “No counselor, not till he’s posted the bail money. You can meet us downstairs.” He nodded toward the guys standing behind the banister. “His posse can show you the way.”
She hesitated, and I read the expression on her face loud and clear. She didn’t want to follow my crew anywhere. In fact, she looked like she wanted to run away.
“Go ahead, I’ll be fine.” I appreciated that she’d given it a try. Sheriffs wouldn’t break protocol no matter how owl-eyed innocent she acted. It sure turned me on, though.

my review

Slow Burn isn’t your typical MC Romance.  It was quite refreshing.  While some aspects of living the life of an Outlaw MC were mentioned, this story focusing primarily on the attraction and love of Rochlan North, Lost Kings MC President and Hope Kendall, attorney.  From the moment they met, they felt an attraction that Hope had to try hard to resist and Roch had to try hard to fight…because Hope is a married woman.  Though he’s an outlaw, he was portrayed as a man with morals and respected those around him.  He was quite different from the stereotype we come across now and days with this type of read.

Hope was a strong women who had difficulty seeing how strong she really was.  Spanning over a period of two years, we see how Roch is determined to claim Hope as his and when the opportunity strikes during a devastating time for Hope, he tries to do just that and help Hope get back to being the strong woman she was when they first met.

I really liked this book.  It was a sweet and romantic story that wasn’t overflowing with hardcore MC rivalry, violence and debauchery.  Don’t get me wrong, I love having all of that in my books, but I must admit that there are times when I just need a break from it.  Don’t you?  This is a great filler to give you that type of break while still giving us the romance we crave.  It was a decent size read, so it would definitely come in handy if you’re in the search of a read to help with a book hangover.

I shuddered, and shook my head, burying my face in his shoulder as he started working my clit harder. My hips twisted over his, grinding his cock down hard as the tension built inside me.

“Ladies first,” he whispered, then used his hand on my ass to lift me just enough for him to shove three fingers down deep inside. Holy crap. I don’t know how he pulled it off logistically and I didn’t care. All that mattered was the way he filled me up and ground down on my clit at the same time. My heart was beating too fast and I felt dizzy with need and desire and pleasure that wound so tight I thought I might explode. Oh, God… please explode! Then it hit and I bit his shoulder so I wouldn’t scream, waves of ecstasy shattering me. My body went lump over his, and he pulled the hand that’d tortured me free. Then it was at my mouth, pushing inside until I tasted myself all over him as he gripped my jaw in a soft but firm hold.

“You ready to suck my cock?”

I nodded so fast it made me dizzy. Then I slithered down his body, ripping at his jeans and pulling his belt free. he lifted his hips to help me, his erection springing free to slap up against his belly. Id seen it before, of course, but never quite this close and personal. We hadn’t had a normal courtship, and I realized with a shock that we’d only had sex three times, total. Wow. Felt like so much more than that.

A little frission of excitement raced up my spine- there was so much more about him I couldn’t wait to learn. I giggled, giddy and he grinned down at me, wrapping his fingers tight into my hair.

“I feel like a kid when I’m with you.”

“I do, too,” I whispered back.

 My Review

“Take something off, because otherwise I’m going to start ripping things.”

Throughout the Reaper’s MC series, we see glimpses of Picnic.  As president of the MC, he’s responsible for all everything that goes on with the club. In Devil’s Game we see a little more of him and the love he has for his daughters as we watch Emmy and Hunter’s story unfold.  Finally in Reaper’s Stand we see him as not just the club president or a rival club member, but a man who suffered a great loss when he lost is wife and his reluctance to move on with that part of his life.

When he first saw London several months before, he knew there was an attraction he didn’t want to accept but club life has a way of affecting all aspects of their daily lives and he finds himself closer to London in a way he tried so hard to avoid.

With Picnic and London not as young as the characters in the previous stories, it was refreshing to see more mature characters deal with their attraction and how sometimes that attraction makes us feel young.  Not only is Picnic a hardcore MC President you don’t want to go up against but he’s a man that can show tenderness to a select few and London was one of those special people.

London is not the usual innocent or broken female lead we usually come across in these reads.  She has a strong head on her shoulders.  Determined to be independent as she runs her cleaning business and supports as well as raises her cousin’s daughter.  She’s a strong woman who knows how to handle herself in many situations and shows she can come out on top whatever is thrown at her.

Reaper’s Stand was definitely up there in my all time favorites list.  Filled with suspense, intrigue and passion.  Picnic and London most definitely gave those younger characters a run for their money.

This was a 5 star read for me.

Series Review of The Doms of Gensis by Jenna Jacobs

Embracing My Submission (The Doms of Genesis Book 1)

Haunted for years by dreams of a savage, amber eyed Dominant with lips so enticing my soul ached in frustration and lust. None of the Dominants at Genesis, my local BDSM club ever stirred me in such blistering ways. While I tried to fill my submissive desires vicariously through interactions at the club, I attempted to convince myself it was enough. But it wasn’t. My dream Dom made certain I hungered for more.

Forced beyond what I could bear, my passion and frustration exploded. I threw in the towel, determined to stop chasing a dream and gave up completely on finding submissive surrender. But fate intervened when two gunshots split the night. Forced to confront my desires and insecurities, I was shocked to realize that my dreams may have held a deeper meaning. Were they compelling me to finally embrace my submission?

Masters of My Desire (The Doms of Genesis Book 2)

Plowing into Bambi and totaling my SUV wasn’t the way I envisioned starting my vacation. Then again, neither was being rescued by two gorgeous men. Nick Masters and Dylan Thomas swooped in to save me from the wreck. They weren’t just knights in a shining truck, but Dominants so potent the submissive hidden inside me clawed to kneel at their feet.
To my surprise, they offered to teach me the joys of submission. I shoved down my fears and agreed to spend one glorious week of pleasure under their hand, at the center of their raw passion. With each command and touch, they bared my soul and stole my heart. With them, I felt like a beautiful—if kinky—Cinderella. But all too soon, the clock struck midnight, and I fled…
Returning to my lackluster life, I was determined to somehow survive without the masters of my desire. I never imagined they would travel a few hundred miles to hunt me down. Could I say yes when they offered to bestow something on me far more beautiful than a glass slipper?

Master of My Mind (The Doms of Genesis Book 3)

The Biggest Club Genesis Book Yet!
After the shocking death of my Master left me stunned, the revenge his ex-wife and daughter sought was almost as devastating. Seeking refuge at Club Genesis, my one safe haven, I returned to heal and get back on my own two feet.
But I soon learned that fate had other plans for Leagh Bennett.
Tony Delvaggio, the panty-melting sadist and resident shrink of Genesis, took me under his wing. Both frightened by his intensity and secretly thrilled by his unwavering attention, I tried to hide my past and barricade my soul from him. But Tony coaxed my thoughts with his deep voice and seduced my body with his rough hands. Before long, he pried open my heart as well. But when it became clear that someone meant to kill me, I came to a terrifying conclusion: I would have to put my complete trust and submission in the Master of my mind or die…

Saving My Submission (The Doms of Genesis Book 4)

I never intended Joshua Lars, the sexy-as-sin sculptor to be more than a one-night stand. How was I to know his masterful hands and dominant command would wake the sleeping submissive within me?

Any of my friends would have said that Mellie Carson was an independent, successful woman who would never kneel for a man. I’d already chalked my one foray into surrendering my control up to naïve stupidity. I was far too smart now to do it again—or so I thought.

Then came Joshua… Determined to resist his powerful draw, I tried to forget him, but Fate—and a killer—had other plans. Now, in Joshua’s arms, I might be safe, but I fear my heart isn’t.

Can he save my life while saving my submission?

Dominance and submission genuinely had nothing to do with kinky sex, but everything to do with trust, faith and letting go.

The statement above is the fundamental message in each of these amazing stories. Jenna Jacobs does an outstanding job of not only telling stories of two people finding their soulmate, she weaves in and masterfully conveys the dynamics of the BDSM lifestyle and the multiple facets of how those that live the life mold it into what makes their relationship and themselves…whole.

Embracing My Submission
Julianna, aka Emerald, struggles with her insecurities as a submissive because she has yet to be claimed by a Dom. They feed into her fears and inadequecie as a submissive and ultimately lead her to question her choice to live the lifestyle she longs for.

But all hope isn’t lost; on what turns out to be the most horrific night of her life, the man of her dreams for the past few years, LITERALLY marches in to save the day.

As Julianna and Mika struggle with their pasts, they begin to open up to a love that most only dream of. With the help of her dreams, Julianna looks within herself to make a decision about her desire to ultimately submit.

Favorite quote:
“I’m not your Sir, girl. I’m your Master. Your salvation. I’m the one who will make all your naughty dreams come true. The one who will keep you safe. Treasure you. Push you to the brink of all you can endure and savor every frantic cry. Every tear. Every precious gift you shower upon me. And by God, I’ll give them back to you tenfold.”

Masters of Desire
This story is most definitely one of the most erotic stories I’ve read…to date!

Sweet little Savannah is rescued by best friends Nick and Dylan after a drive to meet her sister ends with her SUV meeting a deer in the road. Instantly in tune and aware that both men ooze Dominance, she fights to keep her desire of submission secret. But Nick and Dylan have no intention of allowing her to deny her true self.

Since their snowed in and stranded, they all decide to make their time together into an opportunity for submission training. Within a short period, Savannah learns her submission is the truest part of herself and without it, she is incomplete. BUT, in the process, she’s fallen for both men.

Nick and Dylan being best friends since grade school have longed to find the sub to their Doms. A relationship they’ve hoped for but never dreamed was a possibility. These guys are like a dream come true. So close that sharing a sub was only natural. The dynamc between the three of them may seem odd but the way this story is told, it’s like the ultimate fantasy come true. to have two gorgeaous men dole on you and offer to treat you like the princess they think you are and care for you without the issue of jealous even on their radar. To have the ultimate understanding that their love is true and pure in the perfect love triangle.

Favorite Quote:
“You complete us kitten. You know what the means don’t you?”
– “No, Sir.”
“We’re never going to let you go.”
– “Oh”

Master of My Mind
Leagh and Tony. After a devasting moment where Leagh loses her Master after years of devotion, the loss proves to be extremely overwhelming. Luckily for her Tony is there to help. Not only is one of the most sought after Doms, but he’s the resident shrink at club Genesis who has secretly appeared in her fantasies for a while.

After years of longing for Leagh, Tony devotes his time to helpiing her heal from the loss but also find her inner submissive. known as the club “brat”, she’s never truly been trained so that that her sub self can flourish. Add in the mix that someone is out to kill Leagh and you have a recipe for suspense as well as hot, erotic, mind blowing scenes.

Leagh was a spunky little minx. With her being the spitfire that she is, her training proves to be a task for Tony. These two together could be quite comical at times because she was a handful.

Favorite Quote:
“You’re a previous treasure to me, Leagh. Give me your heart, your soul, your fears, and your joys. And I promise to cherish every damn one of them.”

Saving My Submission
Mellie Carson, sister to Savannah from Masters of Desire, has walked the path of submission was hurt with betrayal. Now she is an independent woman traveling the world and enjoying life through her work while enjoying the plethora of adoring men willing to wisk her away.

One night with the famous sculpor, Joshua Lars, and she’s yearning for that submission again. But she fights it tooth and nail to avoid the pain she felt last time.

Joshua is more than willing to help coax Mellie’s submission. After laying eyes on her and sensing her submission, there’s nothing he wants more. Mellie’s stubborness and Joshua’s patience gives us such a great story to enjoy while delving into the dynamics of the BDSM lifestyle. Don’t worry, this one if filled with enough suspense to keep you on your toes as well.

Favorite Quote:
“Mellie, Mellie. I don’t want a bossy girl. I want an openminded and immodest one. You told me to take the lead, and I fully intend to. But you don’t get to take back the reigns. You’ve handed them over to me. And now they’re mine! That’s exactly how you like it, no matter how you try and deny it. That makes you mne, little one. Mine to do all the things I ache to do to your sweet little body.”

This series will stay with me for a long time. Each story gave me so much more than a fantasy. It gave me an understanding of the power exchange involved in living the BDSM lifestyle. It was like an enlightenment for me. In my opinion, hese were hands down worth more than 5 stars each.

After the ‘OMG’ ending of Her Dom, we get the conclusion to Sophia and Dominic’s story.  Dominic was one pissed off Dom at the end of the previous book and I didn’t know what to think.  I hurt for him and hoped he’d get his happy ending.

In Her Dom’s Lesson, we get to see from both POVs.  We learn what’s going on from Sophia’s side of things and get a glimpse into her head and learn of her true feelings and intentions in all that transpired.  Her story is told and we see where it all goes.  There was much more suspense and drama in this second book and it all kept me on my toes.  Feeling Sophia’s anguish and seeing her guilt made my heart ache for her.

I cried for these characters.  I ached for them to reconcile and find the happiness I could see they both longed for.

There is so much that happens in this book, I couldn’t even pick out quotes to tease you with.  I couldn’t risk giving anything away.

Just know that all your questions are answered.  We find out who’s behind everything that happened in the previous book and believe me…it’s another shocker.

We still get to see the loving, compassionate side of Dominic and the Sophia is ever the sweet heroine.  We’re treated to much more of Tucker and Shadow; which by the way we get to see them be much more candid.  They gave me several laugh out loud moments.  I just adore those two hulks.

You’ll be quite pleased with this conclusion.  I know I was.

4 Dominating stars.

“I am her Dom. She will feel me when I’m not even there. She will hear my words whispered in her ear even when she’s asleep. No man will ever come close to touching her again after I’ve shown her what I can do. She is mine. Claim staked. Territory marked.”

I have to say, I fell in love with Dominic Powers quite early in the story. He was confident, sexy, kind and an all around gentleman. He was a great guy from the get go and was instantly smitten when he met Sophia for her job interview. Sophia was knowledgeable, experienced and well equipped to take on the task of being Dominic’s right hand ‘man’. Her assertiveness in her work in now way interfered with the natural submissiveness that she emitted from her entire being…and With every attempt to test her professional abilities, she never failed to impress him; which only increased his desire for her more.

Despite his attraction, he was determined to keep it professional. Sophia was just as drawn to Dominic and instantly felt his Dominance.

From the get-go, Dominic was up front and straight forward. After realizing there was no way he could resist any longer, he immediately laid it all out on the table for Sophia.

“Making my way back to my cupcake, I lick and devour it like I’m a starved man. Her icing only makes it better and I relish every taste of her, every one of her cries of pleasure, and every time she writhes from my touch.”

Unfortunately, once they begin to explore and enjoy their relationship, that’s when everything starts to go wrong. Someone is after Dominic and they have to find out who and why. But Dominic doesn’t let that interfere with his time with Sophia.

The chemistry between Sophia and Dom was electric. From their first moment together, the temperature only went up.

Told entirely from Dom’s POV, we’re treated with the story as it unfolds from his perspective. We see his instant devotion.

I will warn you. This is a cliffy. I know when I reached the end, I was at the edge of my seat wondering…WHAT NOW?

Thankfully the conclusion is now available so you can immediately see how it all turns out. An believe me, you’ll want to know.

“Calm, My Angel. You’re with me, you’re mine, and I take care of what’s mine.”

I reach my trembling fingers down and feel the sticky wax between my legs. I rub the strip back over the wax, hoping it’ll stick this time, to no avail.

This isn’t happening. Please, this can’t possibly be happening.

I reach for the package the wax came in and with it in my hand. I sit on the toilet lid, reading to see if there’s any emergency instructions. Nope. Nada.

Maybe warm water. I go to stand up to run a warm bath, but am barely able to inch upward.

I’m stuck to the toilet lid! With my hands on my face, I start to laugh until tears pour out of my eyes. I’ve glued myself to the damn toilet!

“Hayley!” I yell through my hands and tremble in laughter when she peeks in.

“What is it, babe?” She rushes to my side with worry seeping through her pores, which causes me to laugh harder. She rubs her hand over my back trying to console me until I can contain myself.

“I’m not crying.” I wipe the tears from my face and she arches her eyebrows at me. “Okay, I am crying, but I’m fine. Or I will be. I just need your help.”

I explain my dilemma to her, and within seconds she is lying by my side on the floor in hysterics. At least I keep my life amusing.

“Okay,” she breathes. “Okay. Maybe the package.” She picks it up, but I tell her I’ve already read through it. “Did you follow the instructions?”

“I let it cool down a bit too much I think,” I admit. “Maybe if I run a warm bath it’ll come off.”

“So we just need to get you off the toilet.”

I nod. “First run the bath.”

“We need a first aid kit. Just in case.”

A first aid kit. For my inner butt. I should probably blog about this.

Hayley leaves me as she searches for my stash of antiseptic and band aids. Maybe she’ll find my pride along with it.

She returns quickly with a handful of crap and a big grin on her face. “You’re tweeting about this, aren’t you?”

I shrug. “No such thing as TMI on social media.”

Hayley puts her hand under my arm and we nod at each other. “Count of three,” she whispers. “One, two, three.”

With her help, I stand up hard, taking the toilet lid with me. Well at least I’m no longer stuck to the whole toilet.

Hayley looks at me, and I’m afraid I’m going to burst into real tears. I have a toilet lid stuck to my ass.

“Well, there’s a fashion statement.” Hayley grins, and I gently sit back down with my new appendage.

“Think Adam will notice?” I smile back.

“He’ll probably think you’ve been swiping fast food when he’s not looking.”

“What am I gonna do, Hayley?” I half-laugh, half-cry into my hands.

“I have an idea.”

I follow her into my bedroom and hold onto the bed frame as instructed while I wait for her to pull the lid off.

“Count of three?” she asks and I shake my head.

“Surprise me.” I close my eyes and grip my bed tightly.

Surprise me she does when she yanks the lid clean off, breaking it into two pieces, and lands on her butt. I’m too tired to yell from the pain, but manage a few giggles when I see my friend holding the broken lid triumphantly over her head like some warped version of the Incredible Hulk.

I reach between my legs again and whimper when I feel the glue still there.

“That’s what the warm water’s for,” she reminds me.

“But what if I get stuck to the bottom of the tub?”

“Don’t let your ass touch the bottom, stupid.”

“I’m not the one holding two broken pieces of a dirty toilet, asshole.”

Hayley drops the lid with a hard thud and glares at me. “Who glued themselves to that same toilet, dipshit?”

“You girls okay?” Max calls through the door.

“Yes,” we sing in unison and start to laugh once again.

“Warm bath.” I nod, hoping I remember not to let my ass touch the bottom.

“You want a wash cloth?” she asks, but then laughs, probably picturing it stuck to me as well.

I step into the tub on weak knees and exhale slowly as I get ready to not quite sit in the tub.

“Oil!” Hayley exclaims, pulling me out of my tub. She reaches for the box and dumps the rest of the contents on my bathroom countertop, squealing when the small tube of oil falls out.

“I’m an idiot.”

“World class jackass,” she agrees.

“Out.” I push her towards the door but she plops herself on the floor adamant to see the grand finale of this performance.

I glare at her without much vehemence. I’m far too excited to see if the oil will work. I rub my fingers together with the oil and run them over the glue, which miraculously begins to dissolve.

I shriek in delight, pouring more oil all over my hand and enthusiastically rid myself of the wax while Hayley snorts behind me.

Love, Always was quite an emotional roller coaster. Yessi Smith tells us a wonderful story two characters (Dee and Adam) as they experience the horrible loss of a first love and best friend (Josh). She goes into great detail of how profoundly lost Dee is after losing her love and the father of her child while Adam does everything he can till fill the void and strip up to honor his best friend.

Dee at times frustrated me. Her character had a tendency to be quite selfish in her grief but it was understandable.

Adam will most definitely leave a lasting impression. He was utterly selfless throughout this story. Doing everything to fulfill his promise to Josh by taking care of Dee and her baby was a testament to his character and strength. His honorable intentions are not only fueled by his duty to Josh but also his secret long time love for Dee. He’s just so sweet I couldn’t help but love him. He was such a tender & loving man.

As the story progressed we see both Dee and Adam evolve and grow. Each becoming stronger people as they overcome their grief and move on. As a result, Dee begins to see Adam in a whole new way but her fear of loss stands in her way from claiming what she wants…letting that fear become her own worst enemy.

By the time I got to the epilogue I was in tears. Oh My!!

Don’t get me wrong…the story isn’t all about grief and sadness. There were quite a few comical moments as well as plenty of passion.

What a girl wants is a sweet rocker romance but very fast paced.  I did feel rushed at time due to the speed of the events from start to finish.  The characters were sweet but I had trouble connecting with Rhiannon.  She was a very sweet girl but there was just something about her that didn’t fully click with me.  Don’t get me wrong, she was a really good character.  I just found it difficult to understand or accept her even, calm temperament no matter what was going on.  It didn’t seem realistic to me.  Even with all that, I still felt she was a strong character.  She was level headed, driven and compassionate.  She didn’t let difficulties of her childhood dissuade from her life goals.  She was determined to make it in the music business but followed the path of the straight and narrow.  She did fall into the cut throat portion of the business.
Jonas was quite dreamy at times.  Smitten with Rhiannon, he fought against it but just couldn’t resist her sweet persona.  He didn’t have an overbearing personality.  He and Rhiannon seemed to fit together perfectly.  He was no alpha but he managed to kindly and sweetly stake his claim on Rhiannon and she was just as smitten.
I would have liked a little more background or story line between them but I enjoyed this story.  I’m sure Tryp’s story will be quite entertaining.  He was a character that provided much of the comic relief.  It will be interesting to see what happens with him.

Breaking up with Barrett

Breaking Up with Barrett
The English Brothers, Book 1
By: Katy Regnery

Genre: Short contemporary romance
Date of Publication: 07/21/14

Cover Artist: Kim Killion, Hot Damn Designs

Breaking Up with Barrett is the first of five books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome English brothers who are all on the look-out for love.

(Except Alex. He’s a womanizing manwhore. And maybe Stratton, because he’s wicked hot, but super awkward around girls.)

Barrett English, aka “the Shark,” is the fair-haired, first-born of the English brothers, and the CEO of the oldest, most prestigious investment banking firm in Philadelphia. He rules the boardroom with an iron fist, refusing to take no for an answer and always getting his way.

Emily Edwards, a first-year doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania, grew up in the gatehouse on the outskirts of Barrett’s childhood estate. The daughter of his family’s gardener and housekeeper, she was always looking through the window of privilege, but forced to remember her place at the very periphery of the kingdom.

When business partners suggest that a fiancee might soften Barrett’s image over business dinners, he approaches Emily for the “job” of fiancee. And while love wasn’t necessarily on Barrett’s radar, he begins to realize that Emily always has been. But will his take-no-prisoners boardroom tactics work on the heart of the woman he loves?

Excerpt CHAPTER 1 Breaking Up with Barrett

Barrett English.

Emily’s heart kicked into a gallop as she looked down at the caller ID on her buzzing phone. Trying to steady her suddenly shallow breathing, she closed her eyes for a brief second before pushing back from the coffee shop table where the rest of her study group continued to discuss early-American industrialization.

“Be right back,” she whispered to her roommate, Valeria, and ducked out the backdoor of the café into an empty alley.

“Mr. English for Miss Edwards?”

A moment later his smooth, polished baritone voice came on the line. “Good afternoon, Emily. Thank you for picking up.”

“I was at study group,” she said, leaning against a brick wall and cringing at the way she made it sound like his call wasn’t welcome.

“I’m sorry to interrupt you.”

“N-no. It’s fine,” she answered quickly, wiping her sweaty hands on her jeans as she sandwiched the phone between her shoulder and ear. Damn it, she wished she could be cooler, but her mind always went blank the moment she heard the low rumble of his voice.

“I’ll be brief,” he said. “Tomorrow night. The Union League Club. Seven o’clock.”

Emily sighed. She had plans tomorrow night with a sensitive, easy-going, doctoral psych student named Chad who’d asked her out more than once. She’d repeatedly turned him down, but Val had insisted that after four months spent at Barrett English’s beck and call, Emily needed to go out with someone with whom she actually had a chance.

“Emily?” he prompted.

“How late?”

“Three hours minimum. Possibly four.”

Pushing her hand through her straight blonde hair, she knew it would be smart to decline Barrett’s request and go out with psych cutie as planned. The arrangement she had with Barrett—while beneficial to her bank account—wasn’t doing her social life any favors. Nor her heart, which didn’t seem to comprehend that Barrett only called her because she was his employee. Still, she couldn’t bring herself to say no to him.

“Engagement ring?” she asked.

“Per usual.”

“The Chanel or the Givenchy?”

“As you wish.”

“Hair band or chignon?”

“You always look presentable, Emily. I leave the details to you. Smith will pick you up at six forty-five. Are we done?”

“Yes,” she answered and the line immediately went dead.

“Goodbye,” Emily said wistfully in the quiet of the alley, disappointment making her grimace. She fisted the phone in her hand until the case pinched her skin and shook her from her trance. “See you tomorrow! You’re welcome! By the way, I love you, you jerk!”

Her yell caused a flurry of commotion overhead as a flock of pigeons departed in a hurry for safer, quieter lodgings, one of them pausing just long enough to crap on Emily’s shoulder with a big, fat plop.

Fantastic. The perfect metaphor for my life.

She stared at the goopy greyish-white spot in surrender before taking a deep, restorative breath, tucking her phone into her jeans and heading back inside to clean her shirt and rejoin her study group.

An hour later, she trudged home beside Valeria, who started scolding her as soon as Emily shared her last-minute plans for tomorrow night.

“So you’ll have to reschedule with Chad? Geez, Em, I don’t understand why you keep saying yes to Barrett!” said Valeria, turning up her collar. “Why not just say no?”

“He has a way about him.” Emily sighed. “I always consider saying no, but I somehow end up saying yes.”

Though they’d never been close or intimate, Emily had known Barrett her entire life—well, not really known him, because they were from very different parts of Haverford Park, but he’d been a peripheral part of her life since birth. The economic nature of the call she’d just shared with him was textbook Barrett: businesslike, methodical and goal-oriented. Emily somehow knew he wasn’t trying to offend her—he was merely taking care of their mutual business as efficiently as possible. It just hurt that he employed efficiency over warmth since it verified what she had suspected for months: Barrett had little to no personal interest in Emily, despite her growing feelings for him.

Valeria continued in the no-nonsense tone she used when student teaching. “Here’s a solution: say no next time. ‘No, Barrett, I refuse to play the part of fake fiancée for you. Take a hike.’ Three words, Em—TAKE. A. HIKE.” Valeria held up three fingers one by one, then tucked them back into the pocket of her pea coat. “Darn, it’s cold.”

“It’s October in Philadelphia.” Emily pointed out.

“Don’t change the subject.”

“Okay, Val. I’ll say no next time. Here goes. ‘No thanks, Barrett. You don’t make me do anything disgusting. You barely say a word to me. I get to dress up in gorgeous clothes I could never afford, have an expensive glass of wine, and enjoy a scrumptious dinner with people who go out of their way to be polite to me. And yes, I’m flat broke and so is my roommate, but no thanks, I don’t want your one-hundred an hour to play your fake fiancée. Keep it.’ How does that sound?”

“Not so smart.”

“I rest my case,” said Emily, though the case was far from closed in her heart and mind, which feuded in a tightly locked conundrum. Lately, her heart murmured that she should walk away from Barrett before her feelings for him grew any stronger, while her head insisted she couldn’t possibly turn her back on the income he offered.

Emily is strong and confident.  Barrett is sexy and in control.

As the first book in the English Brothers series, Breaking Up With Barrett was a sweet, romantic story.  Not only did Katy Regnery bring us a story with strong characters but we are treated with a wonderful story of a love resulting after years of secretly longing and ultimately cultivating a strong chemistry and an extreme passion between Emily and Barrett.

Emily was such as admirable heroine.  A strong woman from a loving family growing up on the English family estate, she grew up with their sons but always had her eye on Barrett.

Barrett, having had his eye on Emily for song long, thought his job offer would keep Emily close.  Having convinced himself that he didn’t need a relationship, deep down he knew he only needed her.

When these two get together after months of the pretense of being engaged they face a turning point that changes everything for the both of them. Katy has an amazing talent for bringing characters to life and telling a story that just melts your heart.

I fell in love with brother #1 and don’t doubt I’ll love the rest of the English brothers.

The English Brothers, Book 2
By: Katy Regnery

Genre: Short contemporary romance
Date of Publication: 07/27/14

Cover Artist: Kim Killion, Hot Damn Designs

Falling for Fitz is the second of five books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome English brothers who are absolutely not on the look-out for love.

(Except Barrett, who fell in love when he was eight-years-old. And Fitz, who met the girl of his dreams at nineteen. And maybe even Weston, who just doesn’t know it yet.)

Fitz English and Daisy Edwards fell in love during one magical summer when they were teenagers. When something tragic happens at the end of the summer, Daisy tells Fitz she never wants to see him again. Despite his feelings for her, he respects her wishes and for almost a decade Fitz and Daisy go their separate ways.

Nine years later, when Daisy moves home to Philadelphia, they meet again, and both are shocked to discover that the feelings they had that summer are just as deep and real today. There’s a little snag, however. It seems that Daisy is engaged to someone else, and she’s come home to get married.

Can Fitz get Daisy to fall for him all over again before it’s too late? Only if Daisy can learn to trust the man who shattered her heart once upon a time.

Excerpt CHAPTER 1 Falling for Fitz

Fitzpatrick English walked into the ballroom at the Hotel DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware, stood in the doorway and sighed. Unlike Barrett, Alex, and Weston, three of his four brothers, who all enjoyed a night out with the best of Main Line society, Fitz wasn’t a huge fan of these sorts of gatherings. All things equal, he’d just as soon be at home watching college football in sweats and drinking a cold beer, but Barrett had insisted he attend.

“Hello, second-born.”

An arm was suddenly laced through his, and he looked down to find his mother, Eleanora Watters English, beaming at him.

“Evening, Mom.”

“It’s lovely you showed up. I know these things aren’t your favorite.”

Fitz sighed. “Barrett has a way…”

“Barrett had always had a way. However, I will say that the last two months have been void of his usual intensity over business, swapped for his intensity over Emily Edwards. It’s been a refreshing change to see him madly in love with something other than a deal.”

As Eleanora led them through the crowd toward the table Barrett had purchased for them at the Twenty-Third Annual Kindred Hospital Harvest Ball Fundraiser, Fitz caught sight of his older brother. Barrett always looked like James Bond in a tux, to the manor born, while Fitz always felt a bit like an imposter. He knew all the rules of polite society, of course, but it all felt a little stale after so many years of compliance. He longed for something to shake him up as Emily Edwards had shaken up Barrett. Looking ahead, he caught sight of his older brother who had his arm wrapped around Emily’s waist, talking to another couple who had their backs to Fitz. Occasionally Barrett would look down and smile at Emily, and Fitz almost blushed at the intensity in his brother’s gaze. Fitz could barely remember feeling that way about someone. It had only been for such a short time, so long ago, sometimes it felt more like a dream than a brief, caustically significant, part of his life.

“Usual cast of characters tonight?”

“Not exactly. The English have been invaded… by the Edwards,” she said, forced humor thick in her manicured voice. “Emily invited her parents to join us.”

Fitz looked over the heads of a few guests to see Susannah and Felix Edwards sitting at the table. Emily’s father Felix, the head gardener of the family estate, was in an animated conversation with Fitz’s father, Tom, while Emily’s mother, Susannah, spoke tête-à-tête with Weston, who was probably untangling some crisis of the heart with their beloved housekeeper.

“I assume nine and ten are Alex and whomever he brought with him tonight?”

“No, dearest.” Eleanora stopped them a few feet from the table, and turned to look at Fitz, her eyes careful, but searching. “I did say an invasion by the Edwards. Felix and Susannah are practically family these days. They wouldn’t exactly constitute an invasion.”

Fitz stared at his mother’s face, not understanding her meaning. “But there are no other Edwards… Felix, Susannah, and Emily, that’s all—”

Suddenly he jerked his head around to look at the couple Barrett and Emily were talking to. From behind, the woman had long, straight blond hair, just like Emily’s, that ended in the center of her bare back. He narrowed his eyes, squinting, as he made out the light brown birthmark that looked like a heart, right in the center of her lower back, right over the midnight blue silk that covered her perfect ass. He had a sudden, blinding flashback to staring at that birthmark over tiny, bright yellow bikini bottoms, and his heart kicked into a gallop.

“Daisy Edwards,” he murmured, exhaling the contents of his lungs.

As though she heard him or sensed him, Daisy turned her neck, catching sight of him as her chin rested on her shoulder. His heart slammed behind his ribs as she blinked in surprise, and her eyes widened. Their eyes stayed locked on each other, spellbound and greedy, until Emily said something to Daisy, and she turned back quickly to face her cousin. The ten or twelve feet apart from her was suddenly unbearable and as though Fitz was made of iron and she was a magnet, he felt pulled to her in an uncompromising way, compelled to move closer to the force of nature that was Daisy Edwards.

His mother’s arm, still linked with his, stopped him.

“It was a million years ago, Fitz.”

It didn’t feel like a million years ago. Nine years slipped away and suddenly it felt like yesterday.

“It was for the best,” insisted Eleanora.

It didn’t feel like it had been for the best. Not at the time and not now and not every time he thought of her between then and now.

“I thought she was in Oregon,” he said tightly.

“She was. She’s moved back east. Her mother’s passed and her father’s all she has left.”

“She’s moved to Philly? Did you know?”

“No,” replied his mother. “I didn’t even know she was coming tonight. Emily invited her at the last minute when Stratton refused to come.”

His breath caught as Daisy gathered her hair in her hands and twirled it once, then settled it over one shoulder, baring her neck to him. The graceful line made his mouth water, made his fingers twitch, made a hundred buried memories fight for his attention.

“Listen to me, Fitz,” said his mother, leaning closer to his ear. “There’s something else you need to know.”

Fitz tore his eyes from Daisy and looked at his mother, commanded by the seriousness of her tone. “You may not have noticed, but she isn’t alone.”

He whipped his head around and for the first time he noticed that the man standing beside her was holding her hand, with his fingers laced possessively through Daisy’s. His mother’s voice was close to his ear and delivered the words he somehow knew were coming, though it didn’t lessen the impact of the blow.

“She’s come home for another reason, dearest. Daisy’s getting married.”

Move over Barrett.  Fitz is my new favorite English brother.  Years after their most memorable summer, Daisy and Fitz reunite and not only does it reignite their feelings for each other but they must both come to terms with the events that resulted from their summer together.

From that first night, Fitz is bound and determined to win Daisy back and Daisy fights struggles with what happened back then and can’t trust she won’t be hurt again.  Though they struggle, there are many lighthearted moments that prove, they not only shared a love but a true friendship.

This story was filled with sweet romance and several tear filled moments.  I felt their sadness and their love.  On top of the emotional filled story line, we get to see, as well as fell, their sexual chemistry…and talk about some seriously steamy love scenes.

I don’t know how she does it, but Katy is just an amazing storyteller and shares with us some epic romances.  Another 5 star read.

Anyone but Alex

Anyone but Alex
The English Brothers, Book 3
By: Katy Regnery

Genre: Short contemporary romance
Date of Publication: 09/03/14

Cover Artist: Kim Killion, Hot Damn Designs

Anyone but Alex is the third of five books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome English brothers who are all on the look-out for love.

(Sort of. Barrett and Fitz are officially off the market, Alex has sampled every piece of available ass from Rittenhouse Square to the Liberty Bell, Stratton can’t seem to see what’s right in front of him, and don’t even get me started on the youngest English brother, Weston…)

Alex English, the well-known man whore of the country club set, has always preferred to play the field, eschewing a chance with Miss Right for a satisfying quickie with Miss Right-Now. But after seeing his two older brothers take the plunge, something has been aching inside of Alex, and no amount of casual sex is filling the void in his heart.

Jessica Winslow, whose older brothers are best friends with the English brothers, has returned home from a fifteen-year stay in England, only to find herself face-to-face with her childhood crush, Alex English, on her first night home. She’s heard all the rumors, but Jessie remembers the older boy who was so kind to her as a child, and can’t help reaching out to Alex in friendship.

Between disapproving brothers, scheming exes, and the biggest business deal of English & Sons’ illustrious history, Alex and Jessie’s budding romance is going to be put to the test. The question is…will it be strong enough to be their happily-ever-after?

Excerpt Anyone but Alex

Alex pressed the elevator call button, then turned to look at the opulent lobby as he waited.

Gold-gilded mirrors made the space look even larger and grander as objects multiplied into eternity. Objects like an ornate lamp sconce, a silk brocaded loveseat, or the delectable curve of a woman’s bare back in a black satin evening gown. Delighted by such an appealing distraction, Alex turned around slowly, his eyes sweeping past the sconce and loveseat to the woman on the far side of the room. She was tall and thin, and the very simple, sleek lines of her dress showed every curve: of her waist, her hips, her tight, round ass. The low V of the draped back cut-out stopped at the base of her spine, and he followed the line back up to her neck, which was swan-like: long and elegant. Her jet-black hair, the same color as the dress, was long enough to be worn over one shoulder, the thick, shiny strands waving uniformly, void of any decoration.

From behind, she was a goddess, and as the elevator rang to announce its arrival, Alex ignored it, staring at the back of the stunning creature who held a black coat over one arm, looking out the plate glass window onto the rain-soaked sidewalk, as though waiting for someone to find her.

“Alex? Alex English?”

Alex whipped his head to the voice coming out of the elevator and was surprised to see his good friend, Cameron Winslow, step toward him wearing a tux and a cheerful smile.

“Hell, I thought that was you!”

“Cam. Good to see you.” Alex cleared his throat, darting a quick look at the woman by the window, who hadn’t turned around, before looking back at his old friend. “What are you doing here?”

Cam reached out his hand and took Alex’s in a hearty shake. “Didn’t you know? I moved here. I bought a condo upstairs.”

“I had no idea.”

Cam grinned, nodding. “Closer to work. Closer to fun, eh, Professor?”

“It’s a great neighborhood,” said Alex, holding back a cringe at his college nickname. “I’m just around the corner.”

“The old make-out pad, eh?”

“You know me,” said Alex, by rote, knowing the words were expected.

“Yes, I do, and I thank God I wasn’t born a woman.”

“Not that I’d bang your ugly mug if you were.”

“I don’t know how you do it.”

Lately, I don’t. Not like I used to.

He forced a well-known Alex English smirk. “I love the ladies, Cam. Have to keep them happy.”

Cam chuckled. “Hey, did you get my message about squash the Thursday after next?”

“After Thanksgiving? No. Are we still on?”

“As long as you’re up for an ass-whipping. Chris wants to play too, so I suggested doubles. Can you get Fitz or Stratton on board?”

“I’ll work on it.”

“Great.” Cam looked around the lobby for a moment, then, after catching sight of the girl in black by the window, returned his glance to Alex. The change in his face was unmistakable, shifting from congenial to wary on a dime. “Well, I guess I better be going.”

Alex raised an eyebrow flicking his chin toward the goddess. “Is she with you?”

Cam’s eyes narrowed just a touch. “In a manner of speaking.”

“What manner might that be?”

“It’s not like that,” said Cam sharply, and Alex heard the warning in his friend’s voice. Cam’s lips tightened to a straight line as he looked at the girl and then back at Alex. “You don’t recognize her?”

Alex shrugged. “Should I?”

“No,” grunted Cam, looking increasingly annoyed. “It doesn’t matter. Hands off. She’s not for you.”

“Protective, aren’t we, Winslow? Why not let the lady decide?”

“No, Alex. Not this lady,” said Cam in warning, which surprised Alex, because if she was Cam’s girlfriend, Cam should have just said that, but he hadn’t.

“What makes this one so special?” asked Alex.

Cam’s eyes were icy as he stared at Alex, never dropping his friend’s eyes as he called, “Jessica!” in the girl’s direction.

Alex looked away from Cam to watch the goddess turn around slowly. If Alex had been rendered almost speechless by the perfection of her back, the wind was knocked out of him as he caught sight of her face.

Her black hair curled down over her shoulder in soft waves, but she pushed it back as she stepped toward Cameron. Her skin was so light and flawless that her bowed, red-painted lips drew his eyes like a beacon, and when she smiled, his heart stopped beating for just a second, as if stunned or disbelieving. He raised his gaze to her eyes and found himself captivated by a green so clear and impossible, it made her eyes sparkle like emeralds behind long, dark lashes. She gazed with warmth at Cameron Winslow, the lucky bastard, as she moved gracefully across the marble floor. Out of respect for his friend’s claim on her, Alex was careful not to drop his eyes hungrily to her body, but peripherally, he could see her breasts, high and full, pushed against the thick satin of her dress. The deep V-plunge in the neckline meant the valley between her breasts was on full, luscious display, and his fingers twitched with longing by his sides, the word touch, touch, touch circling around his head like a magic spell.

His mouth watered as she came closer, bringing with her the scent of tea rose. She cocked her head to the side and her eyes widened in recognition as she looked at Alex. Something pinged in his memory, but his mind was at sixes and sevens, blown away by her beauty, unable to process that yes, she did look a little familiar to him.

Stopping next to Cameron, she grinned back at Alex merrily.

“Jessica,” said Cam tightly, “I don’t know if you’ll remember–”

“Alex English,” she said in a lightly accented voice. “Of course.”

No doubt noting the blank expression on his face, she laughed softly. “But I am fairly certain he doesn’t remember me.”

“I … I’m so sorry I don’t–”

Alex’s brain had ceased working the moment she’d turned around, but he was suddenly struck again by the brilliance of her eyes, and flicking a quick glance to Cameron, he realized the color was almost the same. Oh, my God. She’s—You’re—

“By George, I think he’s got it!”

“Jessica,” murmured Alex. “Jessie? Jessie Winslow?”

“The very same,” she answered, chuckling again.

“The last time I saw you, you were seven-years-old…”

Fourteen years ago.

Without thinking, he dropped his eyes from her face to the creamy skin of her neck, following the graceful line of her throat to her breasts, still lower, down to her waist—

“Alex,” warned Cam with genuine menace, making Alex’s neck snap back up. “If you don’t stop checking out my little sister, God help me, it’ll be the last thing you ever do.”

Another 5 stars for Katy. This was the best one yet. I couldn’t put it down long enough to make notes from my review. I will say- I laughed, I cried and I loved!!

Alex’s story was so much more emotional for me. Who doesn’t want to save the bad boy, right?  With Alex’s past and player ways no one thought he’d believe in love.  But one little girl from his past is not so little anymore. She’s all grown up now and she wants prove to everyone and himself that the’s not irredeemable.

I cried quite a bit with this one.  Alex’s struggle with how his past effects a possible future with Jessica was so hard for him. For someone who thought it wasn’t what he wanted, he loved with his whole being.  Jessica was determined to show Alex that no matter his past, he was worthy of what his brothers had and she fought so hard for him.  Their love for each other was so strong, they were willing to give it up and sacrifice to ensure the other’s happiness.

Alex is by far my favorite English brother so far but that could all change when I see what’s in store for Stratton and Weston.

Twisted is book 5 in the Blood & Roses series. Make sure to check out Deviant, Fracture, Burn, and Fallen before reading this instalment!

How many times can a person fall down and still get back up? How many times can things go wrong before you just give up?

I’ve lost everything. My home, my job, my purpose in life—everything has been turned upside down. But while life hasn’t exactly turned out the way I would have liked it to, I wouldn’t change a thing. If things were different, I wouldn’t have Lacey. I wouldn’t have Michael.

But most importantly, I wouldn’t have him.

Is he capable of feeling the same way?

Secrets are a prison, and I have been behind bars for years. Sloane Romera has been turning keys in all of my locks, throwing light on corners of my mind that I thought would forever be shrouded in darkness. Or at least I had hoped would be.

Twisted by Callie Hart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“It’s Zeth motherfucking Mayfair, bitch.”

That line says it all. Twisted shows us more of the gorgeously intimidating Zeth and all of his dangerous tendencies. Picking up immediately where Fallen leaves us, we’re swept further into the mayhem that follows Zeth and the enemy consumed with controlling him, Charles.

No matter who they’re running from or where they’re hiding, Zeth and Sloan still manage to grow closer and little by little get through each other’s walls. Their connection only gets steamier, hotter and sexier. We learn more about Zeth’s past and what drives him to be who he is. It was such a pleasure seeing a new side to him and getting a glimpse of his inner turmoil brought out from his upbringing.

Sloan comes to terms with who she is and what she wants. Still unsure if it’s for the best or not, but she’s willing to give it a shot and see where it leads. So much is revealed in this installment that we’re not only given answers but more questions arise. I had a few “WTF?” moments throughout this read.

I have to say… Twisted has got to be hands down the BEST so far in the Blood and Roses series. Packed full of suspense, drama, hot sex and emotion, Callie Hart brings us an intense and entertaining story.

I can’t wait for the next one.
