Today’s Spotlight: #Review of THE SEX EDUCATION OF M.E. by LB Dunbar

todays spotlight read

divider line naughty mom review ★★★★

This was such an enjoyable book. Nothing like I’ve read so far. Most of the romance genre is filled with first time love for the twenty somethings as they find their paths in life.

The Sex Education of M.E. was so fresh and new to me. This story follows Mary Elizabeth Peters (by the way, I thought it was awesome that the character’s name was the name I was confirmed with while in my teens) as she makes the decision to rejoin the dating world. She has two teenage daughters and was married for 20 years. As a not-too-recent widow, she’s reached a point where she needs to focus on scratching that “itch”.

With a loving and gentle but supportive shove by her best friend, she begins to open herself up to possibilities. See what it’s like in the world of f*ck buddies or friends with benefits. During a block party with her neighbors and friends she meets a sexy and tattooed man that makes all her lady bits quiver. He offers to be her Über and take her for a “ride” any time she’d like. Well that’s an offer any woman in her right mind wouldn’t refuse.  But Emme finds it difficult to take that first step.

This was a great story about re-discovering yourself. What do we do after a divorce or death? Some of us spend so many years with one person, how do you get back on that horse again? How different is the dating world since we last dipped our toes in that pool? What’s the proper etiquette for one night stands? How do you juggle a new social life with school activities and children’ schedules? That is what Emme is faced with. Learning to find herself again and find the happiness that evaded her for so long and being surprised at what falls into your path when you open yourself up to new things.

This is the perfect story for the thirty-somethings or forty-somethings or, hell, anyone that has come out of a long relationship and knows what it’s like (or just curious) to start over.

Bravo, LB Dunbar, for broaching a subject that can touch so many in a way that was purely entertaining with the story line and characters that are just as awkward and vulnerable and self-conscious as the rest of us. 🙂

I’m forty, flabby, and frustrated. Don’t get me wrong, I have a good home, a decent job, and great children. I had a loving marriage for twenty years where we had our ups and downs. It wasn’t perfect; but it wasn’t awful. Then he died.

After the grief took its course, and the reality of my life set in, I grew frustrated. It wasn’t the bills or the struggle to keep my interest in my work. It was life without a man – the only man I’d been with for twenty years. And before you go all feminist on me, it isn’t that I can’t be an independent woman, but there are certain areas where a man is necessary.

You need a fuck buddy, my friend said.
I didn’t even know what that meant.
Is it friends with benefits?, I asked.
Better, you don’t even have to be friends, she offered.

Boy, did I need an education in the modern workings of dating, and sex.

A coming-of-an-older-age novel.
Something new from L.B. Dunbar — a stand alone!

Tour: Wicked Innocence by Missy Johnson

Synopsis: Don’t let my petite and innocent appearance fool you, because I’m one person you don’t want to cross. I’m Micah, the youngest member of Resurrection…If only they knew how young. My fake ID says I’m twenty-one.

And I will be…in four years.

What can I say? I blossomed early. Home sucked, so I left, determined to do something with my life.

Landing the gig as lead vocalist in the band was a dream come true. I’ve worked hard to make something of myself and nothing is going to ruin that for me.

Then He showed up.

He’s hot as hell and so into me. But he’s also twenty-five.

I don’t want to lie to him, but if the truth comes out I’ll lose everything, including him.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his ipod. “Put on some music if you like.”

I took it, letting my fingers glide over his. His eyes darted toward me briefly and my heart jumped.

I quickly looked down, busying myself with his music collection. I ran through artists until I came

across Severed. Smiling, I clicked play.

“You have your own music in here,” I said with a giggle.

He shrugged. “If I don’t appreciate it, then why should I expect anyone else to?”

“I guess. I just think it’s cute. Like an actor going to see themselves at the cinema.”

“You don’t think Nic Cage or Brad Pitt go to the movies?” he asked in mock horror.

“I don’t know. I met Brad Pitt once in Starbucks.”

He chuckled. “I can just imagine how that went down.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.

“Well, you were kind of freaked out when you realized who I was. Meeting someone actually

famous? You’d lose the plot,” he laughed.

“Well, in my defense, I didn’t have posters of Brad Pitt all over my walls—” I shut my mouth, but it

was too late. No, no, no…

“You had posters of me on your walls?” he repeated, amused. “Micah, that is adorable.”

“Shut up,” I mumbled, coving my face with my hands. He chuckled loudly next to me, clearly not

ready to let this go. “No! No laughing. Just shut up and drive.”

Wicked Innocence by Missy Johnson was a treat to read.  The characters were relate able and I became invested in their and their story.  Saxon Waite was an absolute dreamboat.  He was a sexy rocker with such a good heart. I have definitely added him to my BBF list.  Micah was a strong heroine. She showed that age was not always and indication of maturity.

I did struggle with the fact that she actually was much younger that everyone thought.  Especially when her relationship with Saxon went to a level of intense intimacy but only when the story reminded us of her actual age but she carried herself like any other adult and I would again forget the fact that she was 8 years younger than Saxon.  The back story for each character wasn’t outrageous as not to be believable which kept me involved in the story and invested in Micah and Saxon.

Missy Johnson give us a very original and well written story.  Once I started I couldn’t stop until I read the last page.  I was hooked from the beginning and enjoyed every bit after.

4.5 stars for this Wicked read

His skin was velvety smooth over his rock hard shaft, and he tasted faintly of salt and muskiness. Pure male. I cupped his balls in my free hand and looked up to see him staring down at me with a look in his piercing blue eyes that told me this was exactly what he’d had in mind. Over and over, I swallowed his cock, loving the sound of his moans as I inched him closer and closer to release.

I felt his hands tighten in my hair, sending delicious pain skittering across my scalp. Looking down at me, he licked his lips and grinned. “Slow. I want this to last.”

Controlling my pace, he fucked my mouth slowly and methodically, and I licked and sucked every glorious inch of him.

 TOO MUCH by Lea Griffith

Loveswept Contemporary Erotic Romance

June 10, 2014

ISBN: 978-0-553-39069-8

In Lea Griffith’s Loveswept debut, a novel that’s perfect for erotic romance readers, two lovers who have shared exquisite pain and unforgettable bliss find solace back in each other’s arms.

Jeremiah Copeland and Daly Edwards have a history. Even though he grew up a criminal struggling to care for two younger siblings, and she’s the pampered daughter of a power-hungry senator, they formed a bond that nothing could break. Only a lack of trust ripped them apart.

Seven years later, Daly has reason to believe that Jeremiah’s brother is in trouble. She reaches out to Jeremiah the only way she knows how: at his BDSM club, The Underground. But one look ignites a heat she thought had cooled forever. As Jeremiah takes control of her body once again, Daly quickly loses control of her carefully rebuilt world. Too much has never been enough between them, and as danger swirls in the shadows, Jeremiah forces Daly to recognize what has never changed: She still loves him. His command is that she return her heart—and he will make her obey.

Naughty Mom Review

From the moment I began reading Too Much I was hooked.  The opening scene intrigued me.  Lea Griffith starts out by describing the intense connection between the main characters… Daly Edwards and Jeremiah Copeland.  It’s been quite some time since I’ve had the pleasure of reading a BDSM themed story and I was entertained, turned on and emotional while reading Too Much.  Daly and Jeremiah are such strong characters and their interaction with each other as well as the love that’s described between them was so strong.

“Rules are naught between us.  You have my everything because you will give me yours.”

As the story progressed, we get treated with a little mystery and drama but what I loved most about this story is that most of this story is just Daly and Jeremiah.   As they rekindle their relationship and remember what they had we get to see them fall into their roles of Dominant and submissive.  The scenes between these two was so H.O.T. and sexy and found myself wishing for alone time of my own.  Their time in Jeremiah’s BDSM club was super steamy.

“You’ve given yourself to me.  You trust that I know what you need.  All you give to me I will hold close and care for in all ways.  You are mine to do with whatever I want.”

Lea Griffith brings us a really good story with Super Sexy characters and delivers a really great message applicable to any type of relationship.  We all need trust.  Trust in ourselves and trust in those we love.

“You. Are. Mine.”

Too Much by Lea Griffith was a truly enjoyable read.  The story was extremely well written and provided in the 3rd person from both points of views so we are given the perspective from Daly and Jeremiah.

I give it 4.5 Naughty Stars

Author Bio

I’ve always had a passion for reading but over the last several years it has become an obsession, a few months ago I decided to put fingers to keys to keyboard (or pen to paper!) and write Something Missing,a story I’ve had hidden away in the back of my mind for a long time.
Hazel lives in the small town of Rishton in Lancashire. England, with her husband, three children, two cats, dog, rabbit and lizard. She fills her days dashing between school runs, pets and housework and at night she comes to life either writing or watching her favorite program ‘Supernatural’ (yes she is Supernatural obsessed)
Her road to writing started with a love for paranormal romance novels, and after finding a passion for tragic romance she set out on the mission to share her own story. After long nights writing and a lot of ‘Supernatural’ episodes she is finally ready to share ‘Something Missing’. Hazel loves nothing better than sitting with a cup of tea, a chocolate biscuit and a good book.
