The Bohemian and the Businessman by Katy Regnery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have loved every Blueberry Lane character Katy Regnery has brought to life with her beautiful storytelling, but I don’t think I could have adored any of them more than I did Priscilla Story and Shane Olson.
I’ll admit, I didn’t even pay attention to the blurb. If it’s from Katy Regnery, it’s an instant buy. I have yet to read a story from her that I just didn’t love. So when I started reading The Bohemian and the Businessman I didn’t know what was in store for me. And in my opinion, that’s just the best way to go. Sure the blurb gives the premise, but going in blind is so much more enjoyable. At least it is in my opinion.
Anyways, throughout the series, we’ve heard a little about the Story sisters and I was so pleased to finally get to know the Story family. I kind of feel like Priscilla Story is my spirit animal. She was so free-spirited person and stuck out like a sore thumb in her uptight family. I was just as amazed as Shane was that even with the distant relationships with her siblings and the mysogonistic cretan she calls father, she’s managed to remain so bright. Even having been hurt in the past, she still looks at the beauty in the world with eyes wide open. It was so refreshing.
Shane Olson couldn’t have been more opposite if they from different planets. Her laid back, come what may attitude was something he had no room for in his life. He had a mission. His only goal was to work his way up the ladder and become CEO of Story Imports. He’s worked hard over the years toward that goal. He had tunnel vision when it came to his ambition. He wanted the security and luxury all that hard work would grant him. Coming from a dairy farm, he knows what tough times feels like and there is no one that will get in his way of striving for a life completely opposite from the life he left behind.
Oh, could he have been so wrong. Seeing those two together was just… awwwww! I don’t know how many times my heart melting when they had their moments when all pretenses were gone. They may have been completely different on the outside, but it was like they shared the same soul. Their wants and needs may have manifested differently throughout their lives to make them who they were, but there was no denying they were perfect for one another.
I don’t know how she does it, but every time I read a story by Katy Regnery I feel physically feel it in my heart. The flutters, palpitations, the warmth. I honestly have a physical reaction to her characters and their journeys.
This story was absolutely beautiful, sweet and charming! Another WIN in my book.
Priscilla was primal – a storm, a tornado, a wild thing, the very definition of distracting. She wasn’t sensible. She wasn’t predictable. And she definitely wasn’t convenient.
“I barely know you, Priscilla, but what I do know feels…wild. Too wild. Agreeing to anything having to do with you feels reckless. In too many ways to count.”
Had she misjudged him? Underestimated his experience? Was he a stiff businessman by day and some sort of closet sex fiend by night?
He was-just as he’d been the first night she saw him again several weeks ago at Forrester- an anchor in her stormy world.
He wondered if the sun set inside of Priscilla every night, safe there until morning, making her vibrant and warn from the inside out, leaving enough of its powerful rays behind so that she could shine all day long.
He’d never really seen her coming…and then, one day, he woke up and she was his everything.
