I’m Always Yours..Now and forever.

“Why me? I didn’t do it!” He shouts in a slurred mess.

I turn and start to laugh, “Yeah in a way you did, if you would have just loved me back then, then I wouldn’t be where I am today. I wouldn’t have these ugly scars from Dean, I wouldn’t be a widow at twenty eight, and I wouldn’t be An Ugly Mess!”

I turned on my heels and walked away from him, just like I did the night of graduation, except this time, I hoped he would have followed me, but instead he sat there on the curb with a shocked looked on his face.

“Wait Katie!” I hear him shout.

I turn around, “What?” I snap.

“I’m sorry!”

I walk back up to him, I squat so I can be eye to eye with him,

“Actions speak louder than words! Stop saying you’re sorry, and start acting like it!”

I stare him straight in the eyes. His eyes are glossed over. Not sure if it because he’s on the verge of crying or if this is how he looks when he’s drunk.

I had just popped the tab of my Diet Coke when the door opens. Like déjà vu, Liam enters the locker room, except this time I am sitting with my legs crossed and fully clothed.

“I just wanted to make sure you were all right,” Liam says in his ridiculously sexy voice. Jesus, what is with this guy?

“Yes, why wouldn’t I be?” I ask, sounding maybe a little harsher than I had planned.

“My father was very rude. I wanted to apologize for his candor,” he says, all debonair and provocatively. “I think my uncle Matty has a huge crush on you.” He chuckles.

“He’s old enough to be my father,” I say bluntly, with a little disgust.

“Ouch! I won’t tell him you said that.” He winces. “You’re really not interested, though?” he asks and I just shrug.

“Yeah, really.”

“It’s just that most of the girls who work here would be jumping at the chance to land my Uncle.” Liam just exudes sex in everything he says. I want to yell at him, “You have got to be kidding me, stop talking and fuck me already!”

I feel my face turn hot at my thoughts and turn my head away from him.

“Well, Mr. Tarseta, I am not like most girls,” I say, not looking at his black lust filled eyes.

“I am seeing that.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” I shoot back.

“It’s that you flirt just enough with patrons, but not enough that you are advertising something is for sale.” He steps further into the room and sits next to me on the bench. He’s close, close enough I can smell his expensive cologne, and holy fuck does he smell good.

My breath hitches and I let out a gasp as I feel the heat radiating between us. “Mr. Tarseta, I’m not for sale,” I say, taking a drink of my Diet Coke, my mouth suddenly very dry.

“Ms. Troy, everything is for sale for the right price,” he says low, almost in a whisper. I stand, feeling the need to put some distance between us.

“That is your opinion, but I assure you that there is no number large enough that can buy me,” I tell him still avoiding those black eyes.

“So you are saying that nothing can buy you, nothing at all.” He stands, inching his way closer. I feel the electric sparks bouncing off of me.

I swallow hard as the smell of him fills my nostrils, I feel him watching the hollow of my neck.

“I am not a possession to be bought, Mr. Tarseta. Besides, why would you want me anyway, you have tons of girls just itching for you to own them.”

“Well, first off…” He lets out one of his low sexy chuckles, “I don’t ever remember saying I wanted you.” Ouch, now that hurt. I feel about two feet tall. He stands there cool as a cucumber, while I’m a hot mess of nerves and lust.

“I didn’t mean to insinuate that you did…” I stutter, trying desperately to repair this very embarrassing moment. I turn to my locker to look for something, anything to distract me. I find my phone and pretend to read a text, also trying to pretend he is no longer in the room.

“Second, Ms. Troy, if I did want you, I would have you.” He leans down close to my ear, so close I can feel his hot breath. Okay, that’s it, I am not a toy for you to play with.

“Well, I guess it’s a good thing you don’t want me, because I assure you, Mr. Tarseta, you would not have me if you did,” I snap, slamming my locker door. With a huff, I walk around the bench to avoid having to touch Liam as I exit the locker room. What nerve, what an arrogant asshole.

amie nicholsI live in Iowa with my amazing, supportive husband. He is my rock and my king, and treats me like all woman should be treated. (Like a spoiled Queen)
I have two miniature dachshund’s that are my babies, and they love to keep me company when I am writing away on my next WIP.
I’m about to publish my 6th book, and can hardly believe how my life has changed. I’m called an author, and still can’t believe it. I’ve have met some amazing woman on my journey so far, and have learned so much. (Sometimes the hard way.) I’ve been like a sponge soaking up all the information I can on how the publishing world works. It’s been a rollercoaster ride so far with its ups and its downs.
No matter what, I will never regret anything I’ve done. You can’t succeed if you don’t try, and if you don’t try you won’t succeed. One of my favorite quotes “If the dream is big enough the facts don’t matter”.
Some other info about me, I love my family, friends, wine and anything caffeinated. I also love writing HEA. For the same reason I won’t watch a movie that I know will make me cry, (with the exception of Steel Magnolias) I will never write a book without a HEA. There might be a few twists and turns, a cliffhanger or two. But ultimately my stories will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. For me, reading is entertainment, a way to escape this crazy insane world. If a book leaves me feeling sad, mad or gut wrenched, it is not for me. There is enough gut-wrenching sadness in this world, I don’t need to read about it too.
I started writing 3 years ago, and have no plans on stopping. So keep your eye on me because with the help of some amazing people and my wonderful fans, this girl is going to be on the New York Times best selling list someday.

She started out watching the movie on the opposite end of the couch, but pretty soon she found herself flush against him, needing to feel human contact. They shared her blanket, but it wasn’t a sexual thing. It was comforting to feel his warmth pressed against her body. To her delight, he jumped when she did, but when she looked at his face to see if he looked scared, he showed very little emotion. Only his eyes held the fear that she knew her entire face was projecting.
At some point, one of his arms crawled around her shoulders and he pulled her close to him. At another point, she reached for his other hand, holding it to her chest and squeezing it when she closed her eyes against the soggy girl in the movie. His warmth and comfort was something she had never experienced, though had often wished for. She tried not to dwell on that thought too much. In Renae’s experience, dwelling on the positive was inevitably a mistake. It always set her up for a let-down.
After it was over, Jason let out a pent up breath. “I forgot how freaky that damn movie was.”
“Not me, I remembered. I won’t be sleeping tonight.” She laughed nervously and unfolded herself from the ball she’d curled up into on the couch, standing and stretching.
Jason stood too. “I guess I should go. As much as I would like to stay… I don’t think you want a repeat performance.”
He sounded hurt, and she wanted to reassure him. He’d been so agreeable all night, and they’d gotten along so well. Renae touched his arm. “It’s not that I don’t want that, Jason, I do. As long as we’re talking about that amazing night we shared.” She watched as he nodded. “But I was really drunk that night, and I want a real relationship with you. Not like a marriage or anything, but I don’t want something based on great sex. Does that make sense?”
He nodded soberly, waited a beat, then his face cracked into that grin that made Renae willing to do anything. “Great, huh?”
She laughed. “Stud-muffin caliber sex.”
He stilled, a perplexed expression on his face. “I don’t know what that means.” She answered with a shrug, secretly amused by his confusion. “But sex in the future is still on the table, right?”
Renae nodded. “Yes, I think so.” It was something she’d considered, repeatedly. Especially at night when she was supposed to be sleeping.
“Good.” He lowered his head to hers and kissed her. It was such a sweet and tender kiss, considering they’d just been talking about how great the sex between them was, that Renae was caught off guard. She’d been preparing for a conquering kiss of triumph, since she’d just agreed they might have sex someday. But this kiss was a consuming kiss, his warm lips softly nibbled on her lips and when she opened, he slowly swept his tongue inside, softly overwhelming her senses, until yet again she was a trembling mass of nerves. He seemed to sense it, and his hand came to her lower back where he supported her. He didn’t pull her closer, or press himself against her, he just held her, kissing her softly. When his other hand reached for her face, she couldn’t stop herself from melting into him.
Her own hands tugged on his hair, adjusting the position of his face so she could deepen the kiss. As much as she loved the tender kiss, Renae wanted more. She whimpered into his mouth as she pulled his hair, and something seemed to snap inside Jason. He hauled her against his body and a primal sound came from the back of his throat. He trailed kisses across her cheek and down her neck, whispering about her smell and the things she did to him.
“No control around you… so fucking perfect… want more.”
She pulled his head back up to her face to keep kissing him and wrapped one arm around his neck while her other hand snaked down his chest. She felt like a volcano had erupted inside her and her veins were filling with molten lava. The only thing to quench it was Jason.

Excerpt #1 – R rated – Sinful Rewards 1

Voices murmur outside the condo’s door, the sound piercing my delightful daydream. I swing the telescope upward, not wanting to be caught using it. The snippets of conversation drift away.

I don’t relax. If the telescope isn’t in the same spot as it was positioned last night, Cyndi will realize I’ve been using it. She’ll tease me about being a fellow pervert, sharing the story, embellished for more dramatic effect, with her stern serious dad or, worse, with Angel, that snobby friend of hers.

I’ll die. It’ll be worse than being the butt of jokes in high school because that ridicule had been about my clothes and this will center around the part of my soul I’ve always kept hidden. It’ll also be the truth and I won’t be able to deny it. I am a pervert.

I have to return the telescope to where it was positioned. This is the only acceptable solution. I tap the metal tube.

Last night, my mancrazy roommate had been giggling over the new guy in three eleven north. The previous occupant had been a grayhaired, bowtiewearing tax auditor, his luxurious accommodations supplied by Nicolas. The most exciting thing he ever did was drink his tea on the balcony.

According to Cyndi, the new occupant is a delicious piece of man candy, tattooed, buff, and head-to toe lickable. He’d been completing arm curls outside and she’d enthusiastically counted his reps, oohing and aahing over his bulging biceps, calling to me to take a look.

I’d resisted that temptation, focusing on making macaroni and cheese for the two of us, the recipe snagged from the diner my mom works in. After we scarfed down dinner with Cyndi licking her plate clean, she left for the club and hasn’t returned.

Three eleven north is the mirror condo to ours. I straighten the telescope. That position looks about right but then, the imitation UGGS I bought in second year college looked about right also. The first time I wore the boots in the rain, the sheepskin fell apart, leaving me barefoot in Economics 201.

Unwilling to risk Cyndi’s friendship on about right, I gaze through the eyepiece. The view consists of rippling golden planes, almost like…

Tanned skin pulled over defined abs.

I blink. It can’t be. I take another look. A perfect pearl of perspiration clings to a puckered scar.

The drop elongates more and more, stretching, snapping. It trickles downward, navigating the swells and valleys of a man’s honed torso.

No. I straighten. This is wrong. I shouldn’t watch our sexy neighbor as he stands on his balcony. If anyone catches me…

I glance behind me. There’s no one here to catch me. Cyndi won’t know I looked. The hunk in three eleven north won’t know I looked. I’m not harming anyone.

I bend over and take another peek.

The sunlight casts interesting shadows across his stomach, accentuating the ridges of muscle, the dip of his navel. I dart my tongue over my suddenly dry lips. His skin is marred with silver scars, some round, some slashes, this proof of hard living, of survival, arousing me, tightening my nipples and moistening my pussy.

I shouldn’t lust after him. He’s the wrong kind of man, the leaving kind, too virile and feral to stay in one place for long. I can tell this from his stance, from his brazen exhibitionism. He wants me to look at him, to care for him. I tilt the telescope downward. His hips are slim. More scars are etched along the bones. Fine brown hair trails from his navel to…

My mouth drops open. He’s completely naked.

I would like to take a moment to reflect upon the power of the following: Zoloft, variouscleaning products, and a mother’s love for a child.

Last night, my son threw up everywhere – on me, all over the couch, all over a blanket, on the

hallway/living room carpet, on a bathroom mat, etc. The items listed above are what carried

me through this.

To be more specific, here is what got me through this predicament:
• 1⁄2 of a bottle of carpet/fabric cleaner• 3⁄4 of a can of Lysol wipes

• 1 1⁄2 bottles of Febreze

• 1 bottle of carpet refresher

• 1 package of baby wipes

• 2 showers for me

• 2 showers for my son

• Several cups of laundry detergent

• Lots of shower gel/bath soap

• 1 regular daily dose of Zoloft

• Most importantly, 1 happy, healthy smile on my son’s face this morning as he told me that he was feeling better

Now, there have been some casualties.1.) The white blanket I normally have on the couch – it was my favorite … but it had to go.

2.) Two bath poufs

The fate of a bath mat, a stuffed animal, and a few pairs of clothes has not yet been

“Calista.” That quiet voice pulls me around yet again.I freeze. He’s looking at me. Sorrowful eyes…heavy…inconsolable. A tragedy in I can’t look away. I begin to feel a dull ache in my left side. {Damien Rice fills my head with “The Blower’s Daughter.”}

His eyes hold mine. They are relentless. The sharpening pain in my side weighs me down, cementing my shoes to their place on the floor. My lips part slightly as my body tries to remember to breathe.

In slow motion almost, he releases me, closing his eyes and clenching them shut. The blue eyes that open back up to me are hard, stony.

He swiftly spins his chair to grab the box of tissues on his bookshelf. Without meeting my eyes, he turns back around and holds the box out to me.

“To help you out of here,” he says in an almost inaudible voice. What?

“Th-thank you,” I stammer. I clutch my purse and take six slow steps toward his desk. Three steps at a time. One two three. One two three.

He stares past me, blankly looking at the door. I pull three white tissues from the box he’s holding and turn back to his point of focus. When I get to the silver doorknob, I quickly cover it with the three tissues spread out in my left hand.

And I’m out.

Blog Tour + Giveaway: UNDER CONTRACT by Jacquelyn Ayres

Book: Under Contract
Author: Jacquelyn Ayres
Genre: Erotic Romance/Erotic Humor

Charlotte McKendrick is your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. She has three beautiful children, a loving family, special friends, and the most wonderful, adoring husband. Her life is a dream.

Er . . . let’s try this again.

Charlotte McKendrick is not your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. Yes, she’s got three beautiful children, a loving family (all of them lingerers—you’ll see), and her friends are special, all right! As far as her wonderful, adoring husband, what a joke! That bastard abandoned her and the kids six months ago.

Now, she will do anything she can to survive and provide for her children. Even if it means signing on the dotted line . . .

Mitch Colton is the CEO of Colton Technologies. Most of his year is spent traveling around the world, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. He doesn’t have time for a traditional relationship and the BS that comes with it. He doesn’t do the “marriage” thing, the “kid” thing, and he certainly doesn’t do the “falling in love” thing. All that said, he still wants someone to come home to. Someone who will offer everything he wants, and nothing he doesn’t. He realizes loyalty paired with these kinds of demands won’t come cheap. No problem. What he doesn’t realize is that once Charlotte McKendrick signs that dotted line, he’ll be paying with a lot more than money.

I am a domestic engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young, impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine), and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work this magic from the beautiful state of New Hampshire.

Before becoming a domestic goddess (not really), I spent over a decade in the medical field, where I wore more hats than the Queen.

I have loved the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn’t reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures.

Finding myself again through my writing in The Lost & Found Series, The One, and The GEG Series has been nothing short of a dream come true. Also, it makes people feel better when I laugh randomly or talk to myself, knowing it’s my characters and not “the voices” . . . that would be creepy.

Every day is a busy one around the Wasowski home. We are all running in many
directions, but at the end of the day we come together as one.
To write my first book
was an accomplishment I never thought would be realized.  Dreaming of it and actually doing it are two

Writing has changed my
entire life. It brings happiness and fulfilment to areas in my life that I
didn’t even know were missing. It’s also one of the hardest jobs that I have
ever done. It takes me away from my family, friends, and the little day to day
tasks that once upon a time seemed normal. Now I have a writing cave. What the
heck is that? Well it’s my second home where I write my heart out and hopefully
produce something that will make many people smile.

That First Kiss by J.C. Valentine
His finger stroked the inside of her thigh, seeking higher ground as his thoughts rolled forward. Piper’s eyes trained on his face, hanging on his every word. “I didn’t intend for things to get as heated as they did, but as soon as I touched you, I needed more. I couldn’t help myself. You possessed me.”
The glazed look in her eye told him that she was remembering that night as vividly as he was. Placing both hands on the cushions on either side of her body, he hemmed her in, bringing their faces so close that when he spoke, his lips grazed hers. “The way you danced that night, pushing that sweet little ass of yours against me. It’s haunted me, Piper,” he whispered.  “You need to understand, I tried to resist you, just like I have been trying to resist you, but you drive me crazy. When I’m with you, it takes everything in me to stay away. All I think about, all I dream about is burying myself inside you.”
Piper licked her lips and Tate zeroed in on the tiny movement. “I want to suck those plump lips into my mouth,” he murmured. Shifting, he brought his knee up so it rested on the couch alongside hers and hovered over her. Her face was flushed and her chest rose and fell heavily. She wasn’t unaffected.
“You need to leave,” she said weakly.
Tate chose that moment to drop his head into the crook of her neck, nuzzling her. She smelled faintly of roses, and his cock jumped at her soft, feminine scent. “Do you want me to leave?” he asked softly.
He could feel her softening beneath him, her breath coming out in shudders as he skimmed his lips lightly up her neck to her ear, where he licked the pulse beating rapidly beneath her sensitive skin. “Yes.”
The single word left her on a stilted breath, only solidifying his need to get inside her. “I don’t think you do,” he murmured. With sure hands, Tate grabbed the backs of her thighs and yanked her toward him, seating her firmly beneath him on her back with her legs spread wide.

Red Hot Obsessions is such a great ensemble of stand-alones and series reads.  Each bringing it’s own flavor to the mix give readers a pleasurable experience of sexy, steamy and oh so hot alphas.  There’s a hunk in here for everyone’s taste.

We’re treated with Calder Cunningham, billionaire in His Wicked Games by Ember Casey who decides to play the strong willed Lily Frazier and use her ambition to save her family’s art center in a game of wills for a bit of fun and entertainment.  Their battle of wills leads to a fierce connection that will get you checking to be sure batteries have been charged/replaced.

We get to read the story of Hunter Bane and Autumn Blakewood in Fierce by Clarissa Wild.  Autumn arrives at college and on her first day she sees the resident bad-boy, Hunter.  She’s been the nerdy and awkward girl her whole life and isn’t sure what to make of her desire for Hunter.  As they become close friends, she realizes that he’s actually interested in her and sees her a a desirable young woman.  As they deal with college life, they grow closer and connect on a level neither of them expected.

Intrigue, suspense and thrills are what you get from Slow Burn by VJ Chambers. Griffin Fawkes and Leigh Thorn treat us to an adventure as Griffin tries to fulfill a promise to Leigh’s father and protect her, but Leigh is enjoying college party life to the fullest. She’s living it up on cocaine and men as her high.  She meets Griffin and is not at all what he expected. Through it all, they still build a strong bond and fall in love.

These are just a couple examples of what’s in store with this anthology collection.  10 great books with lots of hot sexy men and beautiful strong women is a pure reading indulgence.  I recommend you make yourself a cup of tea, coffee or hot cocoa.  Grab a blanket and snuggle on the couch.  This is one collection you will not want to put down.  I for one had to force myself to set down my phone/iPad and sleep, eat or even work.  I was hooked from the start.

This naughty mom gives Red Hot Obsessions 4.5 stars

  1. Olivia Rigal sings every Wednesday night in the karaoke club
  2. Olivia Rigal went to dog grooming school
  3. Lacey Silks had a passion for acting when she was a teen. As an extra she met Marlon Brando, Matthew Broderick, Ricky Lake, Brendan Fraser, Jerry O’Connell and Shirly MacLain
  4. Lacey Silks is afraid of flying. If you ever sit beside her on a plane, don’t mind the Hail Mary’s. And good luck getting to the bathroom. She will not unbuckle her seat belt through the entire flight
  5. Before she was an author, Ember casey worked as a pastry chef. She’s never met a cake (or puff pastry, or tart, or chocolate truffle) she didn’t love
  6. Ember Casey started writing Romance because her critique group kept telling her that her attempts at Young Adult were too, uh, “adult”
  7. J.C. Valentine is a reality TV junkie. The Kardashians hold her prisoner often and without mercy
  8. J.C. Valentine loves thunderstorms. They’re perfect for writing
  9. Clarissa Wild always drinks tea when writing, and she needs at least 2 cups of earl grey tea a day
  10. Like the main character in her book Fierce, Clarissa Wild is actually quite a book-nerd, and not just that … she loves playing videogames as well
  11. Sky Corgan actually participates in the BDSM lifestyle as a dominant
  12. Sky Corgan has to have complete silence while writing, so no coffee shop writing
  13. V.J. Chambers still watches The Vampire Diaries, and she’s still on Team Damon
  14. V.J. Chambers has a cat called Isis, and she does not like to relinquish the keyboard for her to actually write. She would rather lie on it
  15. Blair Babylon has lived in 5 US states: Arizona, Connecticut, Iowa, New Jersey and New York
  16. Blair Babylon was a child actor and model who did over 30 TV commercials and a short-lived PBS series
  17. During her tween years, Molly McLain began writing while listening to Wednesday night dedications and requests on radio. Since no one ever dedicated a romantic song to her, she made up her own love stories instead. To this day, all it takes to get the creative juices flowing is a little REO Speedwagon
  18. Molly McLain is a closet WWE fan. She may or may not fangirl over Randy Orton to the point her children refer to him as her boyfriend. They’re also kind enough to pause the TV when he’s on so she can drool
  19. Although Daizie Draper’s pretty kinky, she’s more of a switch than a straight-up sub. The BDSM in Sorority Pledge veers into many untested areas for her because Addison, the sub in the story, learns she’s masochistic, which I Daizie is not
  20. One of Daizie’s quirky things is that she hates crumbs, like stepping on them with her bare feet. It just irks her like nothing else

I am about to tease him, when we are interrupted by a young thirty
something guy who, looks like a Ken doll.
“Frank, nice to see you again,” he drawls with a southern accent.
Shaking my dad’s hand, my dad smiles and makes polite conversation all the
while this guy is eyeballing me from head to toe,
“And you must be?” he asks extending his hand my way. Taking his
hand it feels smooth, too smooth like he uses lotion all the time.
“Bailey and you are?” I ask dropping his too perfect hand.
He smiles at me with nothing but pure lust in his eyes. “Andres,”
he replies, wetting his lips with his tongue still eye-fucking me. “Would you
like a drink, Bailey?” My name drips off his lips like honey and I won’t lie,
it gets my stomach coiling but I raise my already full glass and smile.
My dad excuses himself again and I want to reach out and slap him
for leaving me with Ken but here I am, alone with a real life doll. His sandy
blond hair parted to the side, his skin is tanned like he has spent the last
few weeks on an exotic beach and his smile a little too wide for his face, but
his perfectly straight white teeth gleam at me. He stands staring at my chest
without any hint of embarrassment but an amused lust filled expression playing
across his features,
 “I should probably get
going,” I announce, feeling altogether uncomfortable and slightly turned on in
his presence.
“Can I give you a ride?”
My breath hitches in my throat as he smirks at his own double
meaning. “No thank you. I drove.”
Taking my elbow he leads me behind a big fake bush just at the end
of the bar. Leaning down, I can smell his cologne, a musky heady scent.
“Why don’t you and I go somewhere more private?” His voice laced
with desire rolls over me like a warm summer breeze heating my very core. My
eyes flutter as my lips part slightly. I feel drunk, intoxicated on lust or the
promise of it. Ken doll’s hand leaves my elbow and rests on the small of my
back with his fingers spreading down to the top of my ass as he steps closer to
I look into his hazel eyes and feel trapped he is too close and
his scent is making me dizzy, or maybe that is the blood pounding in my ears as
my heart jackhammers in my chest. Ken leans closer again so his nose skims my
“Darling,” he says and I jump back like I have been shocked.
Breathing hard I glare at him. “Excuse me, I have to go.” Turning
on my heel I walk over to my dad. “Dad, I’m leaving. Walk me out?” I hold onto
my dad like he is my lifeline and avoid Ken as he tries to catch up with us. I
hand the valet my ticket and pray that he hurries.
“Okay sweetheart, I will see you in a week. I promise.” My dad
hugs me and I don’t want to let go of him for fear of being alone if Ken comes
out here. I hear my car before I see it and release my dad kissing his cheek.
“Night dad, love you.” Opening my purse, I give the valet ten
dollars and jump inside driving out of the hotel to the small road before I
readjust my seat.
My heart is pounding; I feel like I just stole a million dollars
and got away with it. Ken was way too smooth and his perfect smooth hands, huh;
I huff at myself but then imagine what it would feel like to have smooth hands
roam my body. Would they make me feel the way Knox’s calloused fingers would?

This book is a companion Novella to the Blackrock series.

Scarred Hearts & Taking Chances.

It deals with the last 9 months of Summer Anderson’s life told from her POV.

Do we ever know what it truly is? Is it in the hugs from a parent?

In the laughter shared with a best friend? Or is it the words that slip from the lips of the boy you want to love you back?

I don’t know, maybe it’s a combination of all three, or maybe just maybe – it’s in the eyes of the person staring back at you through the mirror. The person whom you need to love, in order love another.

For me staring into the mirror only brings pain, regret, and shame. What I’ve done, the one thing I thought would give me love, brought nothing but shame. This person staring back at me…I don’t know who she is, I don’t know who I am anymore.

Love. Do we ever know what it is?

Bailey, Knox and Max.  This is a trio with a strong connection.
In Scarred Hearts we meet these three as Bailey makes the move from her hometown to live with her father for the summer.  In Blackrock she sees a tall, dark and handsome (“TDH”) biker while she walked the streets of her new home.  I have to say it took me a while to connect with Bailey.  Eventually the story began to flow in a rhythm that made it easier to follow.  Though the author gives us POVs from the three main characters, it seems monotonous as the POVs that weren’t Bailey’s were just a quick summary of what already occurred.  Once I was able to get my catch on to the story, I did find myself wanting to keep reading to learn what happens next.  Bailey goes through a heard time dealing with grief.  Her relationship with Knox seems rocky but as college kids, that’s what’s to be expected.  I do have to say that Knox and Max were great male characters.  They were not only sexy but the sweetest guys. Sexy twins with hearts of gold.
In Taking Chances, we see how the last year in their lives causes growth in each of them.  They appear more adult as they work through college and deal with the curve balls life throws their way.  It  make them stronger once they’ve overcome the drama and trauma.  I found myself more invested in book 2 of this series.  The characters were more related.  The storytelling had improved and the story line was really good.  There were times I had to force myself to put it down.  Knox and Max become more swoon worthy and Knox was such a romantic guy.  I loved how the relationship developed and grew between Max and Bailey.  They have a strong bond that helps solidify the trio.
Occasionally, with both books, I found that there were some parts of each that had too much detail (scenes not strongly related to the story line) and other times where more details would have been better and helped elaborate a scene.  In my opinion some a scenes felt rushed.  Overall this was a really good series with really good characters.
I give each book 3.75 stars.
On a side note…though my review rating has no bearing on grammar, punctuation or spelling I did find it difficult to overlook. This caused my difficulty to connect with the story. Excessive and improper use of commas made it heard to get through a paragraph and follow along with the story.  In many cases a comma was used when it shouldn’t have been and not used when it should have as well as multiple run on sentences.  This is an enjoyable series, as a reviewer and avid reader I do recommend to the author that the books be reviewed for additional editing.  This will enhance the readers experience and allow them better connection with the story and characters.

Why write books?
Well it has always been a dream of mine to write a book, I have written many stories but never finished them or hid them away. Last November with some encouragement from my little sister I wrote my first novel Scarred Hearts. I enjoyed writing that book so much it took me three weeks to finish it! 🙂

Blog Tour+Massive Giveaway: THE REBELS by Brittany Jo James

Happiness is only reserved for the upper class in the United States of America.

As a military wife who spends most of her time working for minimum wage, Temper Jensen can attest to that. Finding a spare moment to spend with her husband, Voss, is a luxury she can hardly afford.
Everything changes when the citizens realize that the president of the country is nothing more than a terrorist bent on total domination. Freedom no longer exists for the citizens of the United States of America and all who dare defy their new rulers are considered rebels of the nation.
Temper knows what she must do, even if it means being separated from Voss in order to save his life. Risking everything, she runs home to her moonshine-brewing anarchist daddy’s home in southwest Arkansas to collect a congregation of rebels to fight back. No one can be trusted, especially Temper’s devious ex-boyfriend who won’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
Can Temper reunite with her husband, keep her wayward family out of trouble, and restore the USA to the nation under God that it was intended to be — or will freedom as we know it be lost forever?
