Insta-love for this INCREDIBLE story! It was scorching HOT, sexy and emotionally intense.
“Bedroom games. That’s all it is. But they’re serious, and when played right, everyone wins.”
I’ve read plenty of CD Reiss’s work and have never been disappointed, but Marriage Games? In my opinion, this story was on a whole new level. It took me some time to recover after reading it.
Days later, I’m still quite numb. It’s just so hard to put into words all the emotions that were evoked. Not only was this book filled with sexy, steamy sex but it was an emotional roller coaster of two people that spent years together and losing their way.
This was a TRULY relateable story. Adam’s frustration and heartache was palpable. I hurt so much for him. It was apparent from that first page how much he loved Diana and the fact that he was willing to try and fight to keep her or make it difficult for her to let go.
“But it’s gone too far. You let it get too far without talking to me. That’s on you. I’m sure I did plenty wrong, but what you’ve done? You didn’t give me a chance. You didn’t let me love you the way you wanted to be loved. And make no mistake, Diana, little huntress, I love you. I have loved you from day one. I loved you more each day, and I’m going to keep loving you whether you want me to or not.”
Gah! To be loved with the amount of passion Adam had for Diana… I was so damn jealous that Diana was willing to let that go to easily and so angry that I couldn’t be her.
The saying goes, It takes two to tango. That’s because they spent years together without ever revealing their true selves. It’s difficult to love someone else if you’re not truly embracing yourself. With Adam’s fear of showing his dominance with Diana, he held so much of himself back. Denying his true self was his biggest mistake and once he regains the control he’s ignored for so long, he begins to feel free and euphoric. Dominant Adam was way intense and a major turn on!!
“When did you get wet? When I came? When you got undressed?”
“When you stood in front of me.”
The moment I stood in front of her was the moment I exerted physical dominance.
I’ll admit that Diana made it easy for me to dislike her. I didn’t see her fighting for something that was supposed to have meant so much to her. But when given her POV, I could see where she was coming from. POVs from pivotal moments for Adam and Diana showed that they weren’t ever really on the same page. Their love was true, but they weren’t true to themselves.
And OH, MAN! Spending those days with them while Adam unleashes his inner Dominant was SUPER SEXY and put this book in the ULTA HOT level of romances. I’m counting down the days until the conclusion to this story is released.
Most definitely on my Top Reads of 2016 list, I HIGHLY recommend reading this book!
Praise for Marriage Games:
“Marriage Games is one of the most powerful novels I have ever read. CD Reiss gets into the soul of her hero and heroine and never lets go. A strong, clear picture of the psychological and emotional challenges of a D/s relationship, especially in a marriage. Why it works and why it might not. Can’t wait for the next one.”
