Be sure to read Caged BEFORE you pick up Chained. This is a continuations of Anderson and Kloe’s story and picks up right where Caged left off. Without the first book, you won’t have a clue about what is going on. Trust me, you’ll want to get started on it ASAP.
It’s been a while since an author sucked me into their story, pushed me out off the cliff and them stomped on my heart. And D.H. Sidebottom did that to me with this book. When I read Caged, I was a bit confused with the characters. I didn’t fully understand them or what they offered each other, but it ALL came together in Chained. The connection became so clear, I felt like a doofus for not seeing it before. The suspense, thrills and darkness within the story and characters was captivating. I learned to love Anderson and Kloe, deeply. Their connection was something way beyond what I expected and I was absolutely thrown for a loop.
When Chained starts off, she’s fully aware that Anderson has been playing her, but he’s not the only one. People have been weaseling into her life and trying to drag her back into a past she thought was long gone. Anderson knows, but he’s had his own agenda all along. Poor Kloe can’t trust anyone, but she loves Anderson and she’s willing to do whatever he needs so that she can provide him the closure she wasn’t able to in the previous book. She made a promise to him and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep it. Even if it means giving herself to him…COMPLETELY. A sacrifice she never would have considered before. Love knows know bounds and kindred spirits is what they are. The share an understanding of such a twisted childhood that they were practically made for each other.
Oh, this was such a roller coaster for me. From page to page, I was trying to guess who was playing who? What was going to happen next? And will Anderson give up his plan for revenge? It’s a guessing game and ultimately, you’re thrown into a tailspin of emotion that will leave you empty for some time. It took me two day to recover from this hangover. That’s a rare thing for me. I usually bounce back like a yo-yo.
D.H. Sidebottom is the Queen of twisted manipulation and she’s proven she plans to hold on to that title every chance she gets. I can’t wait for her next masterpiece.
I had once thought that when I found the light I had been searching for in that long, dark tunnel that it would finally give me the gift I had been holding on for.
I had scoured the joyless night sky for peace, a peace that only the brightness of the stars could grant.
And I had endeavoured to catch that single magic snowflake in the middle of a howling snowstorm.
I had been looking. Forever.
But little did I know that it WAS the sinister darkness in the tunnel that was the gift. It WAS the black reservoir of the deepest, darkest night that would be the very thing to give my chaotic soul peace. And it WAS the heaving rush of the bleakest blizzard that was filled with magic.
Anderson Cain WAS the darkness.
He WAS the black peace in my soul.
And within the raging pool of his wild green eyes WAS the magic.
The magic that saw me. The real me.
He made sure I saw me too. All of me. He’d told me he would make me accept who I really was.
I was Kloe Grant. And now – now I am the epitome of what he wanted me to be.
But when I finally let go, and I allowed that darkness to find me, neither of us was prepared for who I really was.
This book contains extreme violence, strong adult language and scenes of dark sex, including M/F/M.
