ABOUT THE BOOK
Tanner Hart, the All-American bad boy bass guitarist of Jaded Regret, has one motto— play women’s bodies like he does the strings of his guitar— hard, in tune, and giving it his all until the show is over. The only strings he wants attached to him are the ones he plays on the stage.
He has quite the reputation, even with his own band, and he likes it that way. It keeps the truth of who he really is locked deep inside. But there’s so much more to him than anyone really knows…
Now that he’s successful, he can afford to find out what really happened to the only girl who’s ever held his heart. The only thing is…will he really want to know the truth?
When Mackenzie ‘Mac’ Shepard finds herself in a situation she’s been in too many times before, she expects to do what she’s always done— cover it up, accept the apologies, and move on. She knows trying to get out is futile. What she doesn’t expect is for the world famous Tanner Hart to burst into her life like a knight in sexy armor.
When their lives collide and hearts get involved, can Tanner keep his hartstrings from being tangled up in his past, or can he make a new kind of music… with his heart?
WOW! Going into Tanner’s story, I had no idea it was going to be as powerful as it was. I’m a fan of the series and wanted to read it because I love the characters so I didn’t really pay much attention to the synopsis when I added it to my TBR. The content of this story was so much more than I expected from a rockstar romance. Hartstrings can be read as a standalone, but the series is MUCH better if read in order.
When I was introduced to Tanner, I saw what his band mates did. He was the “player” of the band. He had girls available any and everywhere and loved the reputation he built. That reputation was his wall to protect him from the life he came from. A secret no one knew.
When he stumbles across Mackenzie, he finds himself reliving the life he left behind and tries his hardest to do for Mac that he couldn’t do then. He becomes her “knight in shining armor.” But Mackenzie tries to keep her distance. Not just for her but for Tanner’s safety as well.
Gosh, it’s hard to articulate what I got out of this story and not give it all away. It’s touches on such an important and serious topic in such a way that I empathized with them both within the deepest part of my soul. Hartstrings is one of those stories that stays with you. It’s a story that delivers a powerful love, a bit of suspense and an important message about strength and survival.
