A Modern Fairytale
by Katie Regnery
Release Date: March 22, 2016
In this modern retelling of “Little Red Riding Hood,” the wolf and the woodsman are cousins, and Ginger is the little girl who claims both of their hearts.
When three children grow up together in the rolling hills of Kentucky horse country,
One becomes a predator
One becomes a protector
And one becomes prey.
Ginger McHuid has been in love with the “Dub Twins” – Cain Wolfram and Josiah Woodman – for as long as she can remember. And for as long as the cousins can remember, they’ve each loved Ginger in their own all-consuming ways.
One will win her
One will be cast away
While one follows her heart.
This is a standalone novel inspired by Little Red Riding Hood. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to profanity and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
Ginger’s Heart is part of the “A Modern Fairytale” collection, which will include four standalone, unrelated novels:
“The Vixen and the Vet” (Beauty & the Beast)
“Never Let You Go” (Hansel & Gretel)
“Ginger’s Heart” (Little Red Riding Hood)
“Don’t Speak” (The Little Mermaid) – available June 16, 2017
It’s so difficult to write a review for a book you loved when you know all the GOOD parts are also spoilers. When the most memorable moments could also spill the beans of the pivotal points in the story. That’s where I’m at right now.
How can I tell you how much I L❤VED this story without giving too much away? Katy Regnery’s modern take on this age old fairy tale was stunningly breathtaking. So much so, she managed to make me cry with more happiness than sadness. In this story of Ginger choosing between two amazing men, we get a new tale of TRUE love, EVERLASTING love and of EXCRUCIATING heartbreak.
So much is woven within Katy’s magnificent words that I was captivated from start to finish. I couldn’t function as I placed my life on hold until I could get to the end. I was so captivated by the characters and the emotions this story evoked.
Ginger is the town “princess”. Treated as such by her family and some of the people in their Kentucky town. From a young age, she had a strong bond with the “Dub Twins” . Josiah Woodman and Cain Wolfram are her BESTEST friends. They are her protectors and closest confidants. They were so close, I could liken them to the “Three Muskateers”.
As they grew older, their friendships started to shift. Josiah and Cain were always close due to their familial bond. Though they were cousins, they grew up and loved each other as brothers. Add Ginger to the picture and you end up with a love triangle that spans nearly two decades. Ginger loves both but her heart only belongs two one.
What melted my heart was that both boys loved Ginger and loved each other so much they were willing to step aside to let the other be the one to make Ginger happy. Either way Ginger had a winner…but the spark of passion only happened with one.
Because of her confusion and fear of hurting one for the other, pain is evident and heartache is unavoidable.
In my opinion, Ginger’s Heart was an amazing love story that would make even the toughest of readers crack. With a catchy start, an emotional middle and perfect ending…this book had everything.
