Enshrine was my first-ever Chelle Bliss novel and it impressed me, immensely. Her writing, as well as her storytelling technique, was impeccable and it captivated me from the very beginning.
If I had to sum up this book in just one word, it would be Perspective. There are so many obstacles we come across in life where we are forced to step back and re-evaluate the lives we’ve been living. Are we just living day to day accumulating materialist treasures or are we making a difference? Are we contributing in a way that not just our life, but the lives of others, are improved? These are just some of the questions that Callie asks herself. When faced with the hardest trial, life could put her through she battles with her self-sufficient upbringing of doing it all on her own against all the help Bruno offers her.
That Bruno has got to the one of THE sweetest guys I’ve come across in any of my recent reads. Attracted from afar, he kept his distance but the instant he heard Callie needed help, he was there; no questions asked and not wanting anything in return. He had such an amazing heart. He was close with his family and caring/love just oozed out of his pores…but only to those that really know him. He was a true conundrum. To the outside world, he was feared by everyone that knew who he was or even heard the name, Bruno “The Butcher”. So Callie didn’t have the best impression of him and figure out what to make of Bruno barging in to her place and calling all the shots. He steamed rolled into her left and she wasn’t much of a fan, at first.
Callie was strength all on her own. Even without Bruno’s appearance in her life, she was a strongly independent woman. She lived her life for herself and didn’t realize, until Bruno’s arrival, how empty her life really was.
There’s just sooooo much about this book that I can’t put in this review because it would give so much away and it would take away your own personal experience and I wouldn’t do that to you. This is a story that must be felt by the reader. And believe me, feel, you will. I fought back tears when it was got sad and let them fall when it got happy. Enshrine is an unforgettable journey of not just loving, but living. It’s a definite MUST READ for those that crave a highly emotionally charged story. Trust me, you’ll enjoy it, through and through, and remember it ALWAYS.
