Title: Solitude, Artistic Pricks, #3
By: Cat Mason
Release Date: November 9, 2015
Tour Host:  DRC Promotions

“The most powerful spark is the one that can reignite the fire that has long gone out.”

After losing his fiancé, Mitchell Taylor abandoned everything that reminded him of her and retreated home to Las Vegas, Nevada. Now his life consists of three things: drowning his pain in the bottom of a vodka bottle, tattooing bodies in the shop he co-owns with his best friend and pissing off their office manager, Shelby. Not only does she infuriate him by challenging everything he does, but fighting with her pushes back the ghosts that haunt him.

Taking control of her future at a young age, Shelby Winston never let anyone or anything get to her. Until now. Mitch is unpredictable. One minute he is drunk and making her want to pull her hair out, the next he is doing something crazy like saving her life.

While every argument between the two has everyone around them waiting for bloodshed, something else is bubbling beneath the surface. There’s no going back once you cross that line, and once the tension erupts into something else, it could change everything forever.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
POV: HIs & Hers / 1st person
Naughty Factor: 3 out of 5

Heartache, loss, angst, sarcasm, humor and sexual tension.  That’s what you get with Mitch and Shelby’s story.

Prior to Solitude, Cat Mason wrote a novella of Mitch’s story when he was in love and planning his ‘Happily Ever After‘, but if you’ve read Gravity, you know how that ends.  If not, I definitely recommend reading it before Solitude.

Shelby and Mitch are two people that get under each other’s skin…all the time.  There isn’t anything in particular that sets them off, it’s just their mere presence that ignites the fireworks when their around.  Constantly battling wits with creatively sarcastic banter, it gives for a very entertaining read.  Together, they spark a flame that starts at a slow burn but eventually engulfs them completely.  They’re funny as they tease and insult each other; which is why the feelings they end up developing comes as such a surprise to them.

Mitch is heartbroken.  Has been for a while and has found his way of coping from a tramatic loss in the bottom of a bottle.  His friends at Artistic Pricks know his story so they allow him space to deal the way he chooses; but when Shelby is called to help him, she learns more about Mitch than she expected.  Cat Mason does an amazing job of conveying the loss and heartache that Mitch suffers.  I couldn’t help but feel his pain and hurt along with him.  It was so palpable that his devastation became my devastation.

Shelby was the epitome of strength.  She’s an independent woman with character. She knows who she is, what she wants and how she wants to live. She vowed to work hard and make a life for herself, at a young age, and that’s what she’s been doing.  Her job at the Artistic Pricks helps keep the guys in line and on their toes.

I couldn’t help but fall in love with both of these characters as I saw their relationship evolve.  Solitude was a wonderful story of second chances and moving on.
