I’m not sure where to begin… I enjoyed the story, but it took a while for it to pull me in and keep me engaged. I also had trouble connecting with Silence and Solomon, yet they were still good characters. I just didn’t “feel” them as much as I would have liked.
Silence has been raised to think that she has one purpose and one purpose only. She’s meant to be a “savior” of sorts and has endured some really unthinkable treatment in order to prepare the big moment. Since her training started to early, she knows nothing else and hasn’t any idea how wrong her treatment has been.
Solomon is a man with a good heart. He takes care of an elderly woman that has such a great personality. She was very spunky for her age and incredibly entertaining. He’s had a history that wasn’t filled with loads of happiness. She’s dealt with sorrows but still ended up being a really great guy. So when he meets Silence, his sole focus is to help her and protect her from going through any more of what she’s been through.
It’s so hard to write a review without giving too much away. All I can say is that when the story picks up, it really picks up. By the time I reached that cliffhanger, I was on the end of my seat and riveted with the suspense of what was going to happen.
I most certainly look forward to the next installment so that I can find out what’s in store for Silence and Solomon. I must know what happens.
