★✩★I can only give it 5 stars but my heart gives it 10. A definite MUST read in my book. ★✩★
A copy of the book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
When I was provided a copy of The Vixen and The Vet to review and I didn’t know what to expect. I try to go in with a blank slate so I did not read the synopsis and went in completely blind.
I was intrigued from the beginning and as I read this wonderful story, I truly fell in love with this couple. Savannah and Asher were great characters and felt completely real to me. I felt what they felt.
The love that grew between the characters was so palpable, I honestly felt jealous. This is a story of two strangers who meet one summer day both coming from something that caused them to return to their home town to “lick their wounds”. Asher, a severely wounded and disfigured veteran, came home nearly a decade ago never leaving his home; Savannah, a report who fell for her story’s source and had her career ruined as a result. As they get to know each other, they become friends which ultimately brought them closer than either of them expected. This friendship grows into a love so deep that I could feel it through the pages I read. Their moments of intimacy was so passionate and so pure that they were the most intense I’ve read in a very long time. In my opinion, no amount of erotica I’ve read can compare to the specials scenes between Savannah and Asher and that’s my main genre favorite.
Writing this review…it’s so difficult to describe what I felt. After nearly two hours of finishing this book, I’m still so raw from the emotion this story pulled from me. I’ve read a few “tear jerkers” lately but this one honestly made me cry. It was a difficult reaction to maintain as I was at work at the time, and I’m not talking about a tear or two. I’m talking about runny nose, sniffles, etc. Mind you, I’m not a person easily moved and crying is not something I do often, if at all. This amazing story brought out so much feeling and emotion from me, I’m just in awe.
Katy Regnery did an outstanding job of bringing these two characters to life. The story was VERY well written and flowed so naturally that I found myself reading at a pace that didn’t feel rushed. I could actually hear the conversations in my head as well as hear their southern “drawl” as they spoke.
This is one story I will never forget. Savannah and Asher will stick with me always.
